IMPROVEMENT IN OIL-CABINETS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 1 78,489, dated June 6, 1876; application filed March 25, 1876.
To all whom it may concern: I
Be it known that I, GUs'rAvE A. UNKRIOH, of Fairfield, in the countyof Jefferson and State of Iowa, have invented a new and valuable Improvement in Oil-Cabinet; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making a part of this specification, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon.
Figure 1 of the drawings is a representation of a perspective view of my oil-cabinet. Fig. 2 is a plan view ofthe floor thereof, and Fig. 3 is a longitudinal vertical sectional View of the same.
The nature of my invention consists in the construction and arrangement of an oil-cabinet, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
In the annexed drawings, A represents the case of the cabinet, constructed of any desired size, and substantially in the form shown, having an inclined hinged top, 13, two hinged front doors, 0 (J, and a hinged side door, D. Within the case A is a pan, E, at a suitable height, dividing, as it were, the case into an upper and a lower compartment. In this pan is apump, G, intended to extend down through the floor into the cellar underneath, and into the stand, can, or cask containing the oil, it
being understood that the cabinet is to be in the store, while the oil-tank is below in the cellar. From the pan E a tube, H, leads also downward into the tank to carry down the drippings, and a grating, I, is arranged in the pan, upon which the measures are to be placed. In the top of the cabinet is a box, 1), containing a tape-measure, a, operated by a spring. This measure extends down into the oil-tank, and has a float attached to it, which rises and falls with the oil. By this means it can easily be seen at any time how much oil remains in the tank without the trouble of examining the tank. In the bottom of the cabinet is a trough, J, running on a line with the side door D, and having a pipe, at, extending from its outer end downward into the oil-tank. Over this trough is a drawer, K, which is to be drawn out through the side door D until a pivoted stop, d, thereon prevents any further movement. In this drawer is a funnel, L, with -shaped tube P extending from the same, as shown.
When the drawer K is drawn out the end of the tube P drops into the upper end of the pipe (I, and a barrel of oil can then easily be emptied and pass through said funnel and pipes into the tank. The funnel can then be slightly raised, and the drawer moved in again, the trough J carrying off the drippings. The
'edges of the funnel are turned inward to prevent the oil from splashing while emptying the barrel.
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The combination of the drawer K, funnel L, with pipe 'P, trough J, and pipe 01, all as and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony that I claim the above I have hereunto subscribed my name in the presence of two witnesses.
GUSTAVE ADOLPH UNKRIOH.
