' My invention relates to s'afety 'hooks such asfare use'd in connection with derricks' in the oil fieldsfor engaging the bails of gripping devices, which-carry the tubing, cas ing or drilling apparatus; i I Briefly stated, the invention has for one of itsimore important objects, the provision of a novel and improved device of this character incorporating a" latching device which is capable'of moving in both directions when released, for facilitating the insertion or removal of the bails from the recess of the-device which receives the same.
