This invention relates to sack holders, one of the objects being to provide an efficient device of this character which will hold sacks of difierent sizes with their upper ends open so that material can be directed readily into the sacks.

Another object is to provide a holder for use with sacks of different sizes and which will hold the sack taut at its open end.

With the foregoing and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed may be made within the scope of what is claimed without departing from the spirit of the invention.

In the accompanying drawingsthe preferred forms of the invention have been shown.

Referring tothe figures by characters of reference, 1 designates a base on which are mounted standards 2 each having a longitudinali series of apertures 3. Each standard is adjustably engaged by an inverted yoke 4 the sides ofwhich are heldto the standards by bolts 5 insertable through any'of the apertures 3. Thus the yoke can be held at any desired distance from the base. I

The intermediate or top portion of the yoke is straight and has longitudinal series 6 of apertures. Connected to any of the apertures of each series are plates 7 each of which has an arm 8 terminating in a downsizes;

formed with two or moreapertures 10 for Y the reception of bolts used for holding the plates to the yoke; Obviously by providing the series of apertures 6 these hooks 9 can be adjusted toward or from each other to adapt them for use with sacks of different 'Pivotally mountedfon the top of the yoke near one end thereof is a holding arm 11 provided at its free end with a hook 12. The bolt 13 used for attaching this arm to the yoke .is adapted to be inserted into any of the apertures 6; A spring 14 is attached to the arm at a point between its ends and is also attached to a bracket 15 extendingfrom-one side of the yoke 4. This spring serves to hold the arm 11 normally pressed against a stop finger 16 attached to and extending upwardly from the yoke.

Another holding arm 17 is attached to the top of the yoke at that side remote from the arm 11. This arm 17 has a hook 18 at its free end while its other endis attached to the yoke by a bolt 19. It is preferred to have the attached end of the arm straddle the top of apertures 6 so that arm 17 can thus be ad justed toward or from the arm 11.

In practice the holder is adjusted vertically to adapt it to a bag of a predetermined length. The arms 11 and 17 and the hooks 9 are then adjusted toward or from each other to adapt the device to the size of the open top of the sack. Thereafter the bag is 1 placed in engagement with the hook 18 .and the hook 9 at one side of the yoke following which the opposite portions of the sack are u placed in engagement with the other hook 9 and the hook 12. Spring 14, by pulling on the arm 11, will hold the outer portion of the sack taut at its open end so that material can "thus be directed readily into the sack.

Instead of arranging the spring 14 as shown in Figure 1, the arm 21 which corresponds with arm 11 can be formed with an extension 22 projecting beyond the pivot 23. Spring 24 can be attached to the extension and to the yoke 25 so as to pull on the extension and thus act to maintain the open end of the sack taut.

What is claimed is:

5 A sack holder including an inverted yoke adjustably mounted, there being longitudinal series .ofapertures therein, sack-engaging hooks arranged in ,p'airs, means supporting the hooks of one pair for adjustable engage- 10 ment with the apertured portions of the yoke, means carrying=the hooks ofthe other pair for adjustable engagement with the apertured portion, the hooks of one of the pairs being pivotally mounted, aistop on the yoke 15 for said pivotally mounted hooks, and yieldingimeanstfonholding onefof-sai'd'hooksmorsmallyzpulledvaway fYOmnthQCOthBI hook'of-the :same ipair, all of the hooks cooperating for engaging xthe respentive zeorner E'POltiODS of a 20 sack to bevsupported.
