" LADYs COMBINATION UNDERGARMENT Filed July 8, 1950 2 Sheets-Sheet 2 Patented Dec. 1, 1931 UNITED STATES MATTIE KARNOPP, OF KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI LADYS COMBNATION UNDERGARMENT Application led July 8, 1930. Serial No. 466,509.
This invention relates to improvements in ladies garments and pertains particularly to an Vimproved combination garment.
The primary object of the present invention is to provide a practical and attractive form fitting garment for women combining in one piece several articles which at the present time are worn as individual garments.
Another object of the invention is to combine in a single garment several articles of apparel in such a manner as to avoid bulkiness, so that the garment may be worn under a gown without interfering with or spoiling the hang or fit thereof.
till another object of the invention is to provide al ladys garment combining a tight fitting bodice or camisole, a brassire, skirt, pants and a detachable apron.
Other objects and advantages of the present invention will become apparent as the description of the same proceeds and the invention will be best understood from a consideration of the following detailed description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings forming part of this specification, with the understanding, however, that the invention is not conlined to any strict conformity with the showing of the drawings but may be changed or modified so long as such changes or modifications mark no material departure from the salient features of the invention as expressed in the appended claims.
In the drawings: Figure l is a view in front elevation of the garment embodying the present invention.
Figure 2 is a View in longitudinal section of the garment showing the same applied.
Figure 3 is a view partly in side elevation and partly in section of the garment.
VFigure 4 is a view of the garment partly in rear elevation and partly in section.
Referring more particularly to the drawings wherein like numerals of reference indicate corresponding parts throughout the several views, the numeral l indicates generally the camisole portion of the present invention to which is integrally connected the pants or drawers portion which is indicated generally by the numeral 2. The camisole and drawers are cut from two pieces of material, one forming the front of the garment, which is indicated by the numeral 3, while the other, of course, forms the back and is indicated by the numeral 4.
` The top edges of the front and back portions 3 and 4 are finished off in any appropriate manner and are connected by the shoulder straps 5 while at one side these portions are stitched together from the top edge to a point several inches below the waistline or into the drawers portion, from which point, which is indicated by the numeral 6 and which, as shown, is at the widest part of the hips, these edges are left unconnected so that this side of the drawers is open, as indicated at 7. At the opposite side of the portions l and 2 of the garment the adjacent edgesare connected from the top of the garment yto a point several inches below the waistline by ysnaps or hook and eye fasteners 8 and from this point, which is at the widest part of the hips, these edges of the two portions 3 and 4 are stitched together so that the other side of the drawers is closed. The bottom edges of the portions 3 and 4 are centrally connected as at 9, in theusual manner to thus form a semblance of legs to the drawers element of the garment.
Extending across the inner side of the front portion .3 of the camisole is a brassire 10 the ends only of which are secured to the side edgesof this portion thus leaving the longitudinal edges free of the camisole. It will thus be seein that by leaving the top and bottom edges of the brassire free, particularly the bottom edge, when the body portion of the garment is drawn tight about the body of lthe wearer the brassire will be pulled at the upper and lower edges in such a manner as to shape itself about the bust without breaking the smooth front surface of the camisole.
Secured about the waist portion or point 11 of the camisole is a skirt l2 and just below y this point where the skirt is attached there is secured across the back portion 4 or to the top of the drawers a tape 13 to which is secured a number of hook eyes or snap fastener elements 14. Designed for attachment to this tape 13 is an apron l5 the top edge of which V2 e Y y 1,834,846
is reinforced With a tape binding 16 which carries the hooks or other elements of theV snap fasteners for 'connection with the elements 14; secured tothe tape 13.
5 In the manufacture of the garment the back portion Ll is cut several inches longer than the front portion and at the pointvjust be- W the hips Where these portion-sV are seeured together gathers 17 are formed so as to take y 10 up this eXtra length in the back and thus give a fullness to the baek'or seat portion of the drawers so that the garment Will be com-Y fortable under all conditions.
From the foregoing .description it Willbe.
