RECEPTACLE Filed Feb. 14, 1930 IN VENT OR fimi a Patented July 5, 1932 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE WILLIAM F. LUTZKE, OF ALBION, MICHIGAN, ASSIGNOR TO UNION STEEL PRODUCTS COMPANY, OF ALBION, MICHIGAN REGEPTAGLE Application filed February 14, 1980. Serial No. 428,352.
The main object of this invention is to provide a receptacle which is particularly well adapted for use as a garbage burner.
A further object is to provide in a wire 5 receptacle an improved means for supporting the bottom.
Objects pertaining to details of my invention will definitely appear from the description to follow. The invention is defined in 10, the claims.
A structure embodying the features of my invention is clearly illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which:
Fig. 1 is a perspective view of my improved 15 receptacle as embodied in a garbage burner.
Fig. 2 is a fragmentary vertical section showing details of supporting the bottom.
My improved receptacle comprises a top hoop 1,bottom hoop 2, and intermediate hoops 2 3, these several hoops being vertically spaced. The slats 4 are secured to the top and bottom hoop by eyes or hooks 5 clamped around the same and secured to the hoops 3 by electric welding. Certain of the vertical hoops, as 6, have inwardly curved portions 7 between the bottom hoop and the adjacent intermediate hoop. These inwardly curved portions 7 have outward offsets or bends 8 therein providing inwardly facing recesses.
The bottom comprises the border member 9 and cross pieces or slats 10 of wire welded thereto. The bottom is sprung into the recesses 8, the portions 7 of the slats 6 yielding to permit this and the slats spring inwardly gripping the bottom under spring tension and supporting the same without further attachment thereof to the wall of the receptacle. The bottom is made as an assembled unit and may be readily assembled in the receptacle, so bottoms made of wire cross pieces as shown or woven wire grid may be employed.
The cover 11 is preferably made up of a border member 12 and cross slats secured thereto.
My improvements are well adapted for use as garbage burners and I have illustrated the same as adapted for that purpose. My improvements may, however, be readily embodied in receptacles designed for use as waste baskets, display baskets and the like.
Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
A downwardly tapered receptacle comprising top and bottom hoops and intermediate hoops, vertical wire slats having'eyes at their ends engaging said top and bottom hooks and welded to the intermediate hooks, a plurality of said slats being curved inwardly between the bottom and the adjacent intermediate hoop and having outward kinks or bends in said curved portions providing inwardly facing recesses, and a bottom comprising an annular border member, said border member being engaged in said recesses, the slats containing said recesses being sprung outwardly to receive said bottom and yieldingly clamping the same.
In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand.
WILLIAM F. LUTZKE.
