Abstract
The present invention is that of a combination of cotton and flannel to be used for bed sheets and pillow cases. In bed sheets, the present invention would comprise a cotton “half-sheet” and a flannel “half-sheet” attached to each other lengthwise. In pillow cases, the present invention would comprise a cotton side and a flannel side attached to each other. In use, a user would be able to use the cotton portion of the bed sheet and/or pillowcase in warmer weather and the flannel portion of the bed sheet and/or pillowcase in cooler weather.

What I claim as my invention is:
1. A pillowcase comprising
(a) a cotton sheet having two ends, a first end and a second end, the cotton sheet also having two sides, a first side and a second side,
(b) a flannel sheet having two ends, a first end and a second end, the cotton sheet also having two sides, a first side and a second side, and
(c) attachment means for connecting the second end of the cotton sheet to the second end of the flannel sheet, the first side of the cotton sheet to the first side of the flannel sheet, and the second side of the cotton sheet to the second side of the cotton sheet.
2. A pillowcase according to
claim 1
wherein the pillowcase would be a king-sized pillowcase.
3. A pillowcase according to
claim 2
wherein the first side and the second side of the cotton sheet would preferably be approximately thirty-six inches in length, further wherein the first side and the second side of the flannel sheet would preferably be approximately thirty-six inches in length, further wherein the first end and the second end of the cotton sheet would preferably be approximately twenty inches in length, and further wherein the first end and the second end of the flannel sheet would preferably be approximately twenty inches in length.
4. A pillowcase according to
claim 1
wherein the pillowcase would be a queen-sized pillowcase.
5. A pillowcase according to
claim 4
wherein the first side and the second side of the cotton sheet would preferably be approximately twenty-eight inches in length, further wherein the first side and the second side of the flannel sheet would preferably be approximately twenty-eight inches in length, further wherein the first end and the second end of the cotton sheet would preferably be approximately twenty inches in length, and further wherein the first end and the second end of the flannel sheet would preferably be approximately twenty inches in length.
6. A pillowcase according to
claim 1
wherein the pillowcase would be a standard-sized pillowcase.
7. A pillowcase according to
claim 6
wherein the first side and the second side of the cotton sheet would preferably be approximately twenty-six inches in length, further wherein the first side and the second side of the flannel sheet would preferably be approximately twenty-six inches in length, further wherein the first end and the second end of the cotton sheet would preferably be approximately twenty inches in length, and further wherein the first end and the second end of the flannel sheet would preferably be approximately twenty inches in length.
8. A bedsheet comprising:
(a) a cotton portion having two ends, a first end and a second end, the cotton portion further having two sides, a first side and a second side,
(b) a flannel portion having two ends, a first end and a second end, the cotton portion further having two sides, a first side and a second side, and
(c) attachment means for connecting the second side of the cotton portion to the first side of the flannel portion.
9. A bedsheet according to
claim 8
wherein the bedsheet would be a king-sized bedsheet.
10. A bedsheet according to
claim 9
wherein the first end and the second end of the cotton portion are approximately fifty-four inches in length, further wherein the first side and the second side of the cotton portion are approximately one hundred two inches in length, further wherein the first end and the second end of the flannel portion are approximately fifty-four inches in length, further wherein the first side and the second side of the flannel portion are approximately one hundred two inches in length.
11. A bedsheet according to
claim 8
wherein the bedsheet would be a queen-sized bedsheet.
12. A bedsheet according to
claim 11
wherein the first end and the second end of the cotton portion are approximately forty-five inches in length, further wherein the first side and the second side of the cotton portion are approximately one hundred two inches in length, further wherein the first end and the second end of the flannel portion are approximately forty-five inches in length, further wherein the first side and the second side of the flannel portion are approximately one hundred two inches in length.
13. A bedsheet according to
claim 8
wherein the bedsheet would be a standard-sized bedsheet.
14. A bedsheet according to
claim 13
wherein the first end and the second end of the cotton portion are approximately forty and one-half inches in length, further wherein the first side and the second side of the cotton portion are approximately one hundred two inches in length, further wherein the first end and the second end of the flannel portion are approximately forty and one-half inches in length, further wherein the first side and the second side of the flannel portion are approximately one hundred two inches in length.
Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0001] The present invention is that of a new and improved apparatus combining the benefits of both flannel and cotton in both bed sheets and pillow cases.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PRIOR ART

[0002] U.S. Pat. No. 5,287,573, issued to Ritacco, discloses a color-coordinated fitted bed sheet and a overlying flat bed sheet which are composed of a flannel material and of a cotton-polyester blend material joined into two halves running along their respective length.

[0003] U.S. Pat. No. 5,023,969, issued to Nattrass, discloses an arrangement for a cover sheet and/or blanket to allow full or partial use by persons sleeping or resting in a side-by-side position.

[0004] U.S. Pat. No. 4,005,499, issued to Klein, discloses a bed covering such as a blanket or sheet with two separately cleanable and washable halves or parts, to be utilized independently and with tie means for removably connecting the parts together to form a complete assembly.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0005] The present invention is that of a combination of cotton and flannel to be used for bed sheets and pillow cases. In bed sheets, the present invention would comprise a cotton “half-sheet” and a flannel “half-sheet” attached to each other lengthwise. In pillow cases, the present invention would comprise a cotton side and a flannel side attached to each other. In use, a user would be able to use the cotton portion of the bed sheet and/or pillowcase in warmer weather and the flannel portion of the bed sheet and/or pillowcase in cooler weather.

[0006] There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of a material composition for bed sheets and pillow cases in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are, of course, additional features of the material composition for bed sheets and pillow cases that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.

[0007] In this respect, before explaining at least one embodiment of the material composition for bed sheets and pillow cases in detail, it is to be understood that the material composition for bed sheets and pillow cases is not limited in its application to the details of construction and to the arrangements of the components set forth in the following description or illustrated in the drawings. The material composition for bed sheets and pillow cases is capable of other embodiments and being practiced and carried out in various ways. Also, it is to be understood that the phraseology and terminology employed herein are for the purpose of descriptions and should not be regarded as limiting.

[0008] As such, those skilled in the art will appreciate that the conception, upon which this disclosure is based, may readily be utilized as a basis for the designing of other structures, methods and systems for carrying out the several purposes of the present material composition for bed sheets and pillow cases. It is important, therefore, that the claims be regard as including such equivalent constructions insofar as they do not depart from the spirit and scope of the present invention.

[0009] It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a material composition for bed sheets and pillow cases which has all of the advantages of the prior art and none of the disadvantages.

[0010] It is another object of the present invention to provide a material composition for bed sheets and pillow cases which may be easily and efficiently manufactured and marketed.

[0011] It is another object of the present invention to provide a material composition for bed sheets and pillow cases which is of durable and reliable construction.

[0012] It is yet another object of the present invention to provide a material composition for bed sheets and pillow cases which is economically affordable and available for relevant purchasing government entities.

[0013] Other objects, features and advantages of the present invention will become more readily apparent from the following detailed description of the preferred embodiment when considered with the attached drawings and appended claims.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

[0023] Referring now to FIG. 1, cotton side 2 of king size pillowcase 4 can be seen. FIG. 2 shows flannel side 6 of king size pillowcase 4. The dual fabric nature of king size pillowcase 4 allows a user to place the cotton side 2 upright if he or she is warm or hot, and conversely, place the flannel side 6 upright if he or she is cold. King size pillowcase 4 is preferably 36 inches in length and 20 inches in width. King size pillowcase 4 may allow a user to possess fewer sets of pillowcases, thereby saving money over the long term. Both cotton side 2 and flannel side 6 would have two ends, a first end and a second end, and two sides, a first side and a second side. Attachment means 5 would attach the first side of cotton side 2 to the first side of flannel side 6, the second side of cotton side 2 to the second side of flannel side 6, and the second end of cotton side 2 to the second end of flannel side 6.

[0024] Referring now to FIG. 3, cotton side 8 of queen size pillowcase 10 can be seen. FIG. 4 shows flannel side 12 of queen size pillowcase 10. Queen size pillowcase 10 is preferably 28 inches in length and 20 inches in width. Queen size pillowcase 10 is designed to work and operate in the same manner as that of king size pillowcase 4. Both cotton side 8 and flannel side 12 would have two ends, a first end and a second end, and two sides, a first side and a second side. Attachment means 5 would attach the first side of cotton side 8 to the first side of flannel side 12, the second side of cotton side 8 to the second side of flannel side 12, and the second end of cotton side 8 to the second end of flannel side 12.

[0025] Referring now to FIG. 5, cotton side 14 of standard size pillowcase 16 can be seen FIG. 6 shows flannel side 18 of standard size pillowcase 16 Standard size pillowcase 16 is preferably 26 inches in length and 20 inches in width. Standard size pillowcase 16 is designed to work and operate in the same manner as that of king size pillowcase 4 and queen size pillowcase 10. Both cotton side 14 and flannel side 18 would have two ends, a first end and a second end, and two sides, a first side and a second side. Attachment means 5 would attach the first side of cotton side 14 to the first side of flannel side 18, the second side of cotton side 14 to the second side of flannel side 18, and the second end of cotton side 14 to the second end of flannel side 18.

[0026]FIG. 7 shows a top perspective view of king size bed sheet 20, which includes cotton half 22 and flannel half 24. Cotton half 22 and flannel half 24 are designed to be ah ached to each other lengthwise, so a user would have the option of sleeping with her or her whole body on either cotton half 22 or flannel half 24. A user would sleep on cotton half 22 if they were hot or warm, while a user would sleep on flannel half 24 if they were cold. King size bed sheet 20 would preferably be 108 inches in length and 102 inches in width. [0027]FIG. 8 shows a top perspective view of queen size bed sheet 26, which includes cotton half 28 and flannel half 30 Cotton half 28 and flannel half 30 are designed to be attached to each other lengthwise, so a user would have the option of sleeping with her or her whole body on either cotton half 28 or flannel half 30. A user would sleep on cotton half 28 if they were hot or warm, while a user would sleep on flannel half 30 if they were cold. Queen size bed sheet 26 would preferably be 90 inches in length and 102 inches in width. Cotton half 34 and flannel half 36 are designed to be attached to each other lengthwise, so a user would have the option of sleeping with her or her whole body on either cotton half 34 or flannel half 36. A user would sleep on cotton half 34 if they were hot or warm, while a user would sleep on flannel half 36 if they were cold. Standard size bed sheet 32 would preferably be 81 inches in length and 102 inches in width. Cotton half 34 and flannel half 36 each have two ends, a first end and a second end, and also have two sides, a first side and a second side. Attachment means 5 would connect the second side of cotton half 34 to the first side of flannel half 36.

[0029] Use of king size bed sheet 20, queen size bed sheet 26, and standard size bed sheet 32 would be ideal for a couple who would react differently to the same temperature. For many given temperatures, one member of a couple may be hot or comfortable, while the other member of the couple may be cold. With any of the above listed versions of the bed sheet, the couple could both use the same bed sheet and also be comfortable.

[0030] The present invention would not be limited to king, queen, or standard-size bedsheets or pillowcases. The present invention could be used with bedsheets and pillowcases of sizes other than those described herein.
