US 20020195863 A1
Abstract
A chair backrest comprises an inner frame, a net, and an outer frame. The inner frame is a hollow member and has an outer peripheral edge. The net is made of soft material and embraces the outer edge of the inner frame. The outer frame is a hollow member made of rigid material and includes a peripheral groove defined in a side thereof and extending along a periphery defining the outer frame. A bottom wall defining the peripheral groove includes a plurality of fastening holes. The outer peripheral edge of the inner frame and an outer peripheral edge of the net are received in the peripheral groove of the outer frame. Fasteners are respectively extended through the fastening holes and into the inner frame.

1. A chair backrest comprising an inner frame, a net, and an outer frame, the inner frame being a hollow member and having an outer peripheral edge, the net being made of soft material and embracing the outer edge of the inner frame, the outer frame being a hollow member made of rigid material and including a peripheral groove defined in a side thereof and extending along a periphery defining the outer frame, a bottom wall defining the peripheral groove including a plurality of fastening holes, the outer peripheral edge of the inner frame and an outer peripheral edge of the net being received in the peripheral groove of the outer frame, and a plurality of fasteners being respectively extended through the fastening holes and into the inner frame.
Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0001] 1. Field of the Invention

[0002] The present invention relates to a chair backrest with ventilating function and, more particularly, to a chair backrest that provides improved safety and an aesthetically pleasing appearance.

[0003] 2. Description of the Related Art

[0004] Chairs are a necessity in daily life and there are a wide variety of chairs that provides improved sitting comfort and air-ventilating function. FIGS. 4 and 5 of the drawings illustrate a conventional chair backrest for providing a ventilating function. The backrest includes a rigid hollow rectangular frame 1′ and a net 2′. The net 2′ is made of soft material and wraps the outer peripheral edge of the frame 1′ tightly to hereby embrace the frame 1′ and to thereby support a user when the user lies on the backrest with the net 2′ providing a ventilating function.

[0005] The conventional backrest includes several drawbacks. First of all, the frame 1′ might be deformed or even broken and thus injure the user when the lying force from the user is relatively large, as the user is only supported by the frame 1′ that is located in the net 2′. Second, the shape of the backrest is confined to the shape of the frame 1′, which is relatively monotonous. Further, the frame 1′ is still visible via the openings or holes in the net 2′, which adversely affects the aesthetically pleasing appearance.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0006] An object of the present invention is to provide a chair backrest for providing improved safety and an aesthetically pleasing appearance.

[0007] A chair backrest in accordance with the present invention comprises an inner frame, a net, and an outer frame.

[0008] Other objects, advantages, and novel features of the invention will become more apparent from the following detailed description when taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0009]FIG. 1 is an exploded perspective view of a chair backrest in accordance with the present invention.

[0010]FIG. 2 is a perspective view of the chair backrest in accordance with the present invention.

[0011]FIG. 3 is a sectional view of the chair backrest in accordance with the present invention.

[0012]FIG. 4 is an exploded perspective view of a conventional chair backrest.

[0013]FIG. 5 is a perspective view of the conventional chair backrest.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

[0014] Referring to FIGS. 1 through 3, a chair backrest in accordance with the present invention generally includes an inner frame 1, a net 2, and an outer frame 3. The inner frame 1 is a hollow member that has a shape corresponding to that of a backrest. The net 2 is made of soft material and includes an opening 21 in a lower end thereof and a zipper 22 provided to the lower end of the net 2 for closing the opening 21. Thus, the inner frame 1 can be inserted into the net 2 when the opening 21 is still open, and the zipper 22 is used to close the opening 21 to make the net 2 embrace an outer peripheral edge of the inner frame 1 tightly.

[0015] The outer frame 3 is a hollow member that is made of rigid material and that includes a hollow interior 33 for ventilation purpose. The outer frame 3 further includes a peripheral groove 31 defined in a side thereof and extended along a periphery of the outer frame 3. A bottom wall defining the peripheral groove 31 includes a plurality of fastening holes 32 for engaging with fasteners 34. Thus, as illustrated in FIG. 3, the outer peripheral edge of the inner frame 1 and an outer peripheral edge of the net 2 are inserted into the peripheral groove 31 and fasteners 34 are extended through the fastening holes 32 in the peripheral groove 31 and into the inner frame 1, thereby securing the inner frame 1 in the peripheral groove 31. Thus, the outer frame 3 provides the whole backrest with an increased strength and improved safety for reliably supporting the user. In addition, the inner frame 1 is hidden in the outer frame 3, thereby providing an aesthetically pleasing effect.

[0016] According to the above description, it is appreciated that the chair backrest in accordance with the present invention provides improved safety and aesthetically pleasing effect in addition to the original ventilating function.

[0017] Although the invention has been explained in relation to its preferred embodiment, it is to be understood that many other possible modifications and variations can be made without departing from the scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed.
