  • The ball catching device further comprises two torsion springs [0048] 54 each mounted on the lower pivot shaft 218 of the lower extension plate 215 of a respective one of the two holding boards 21 and each having a first end received in the receiving chamber 533 of a respective one of the two clamping brackets 5 and a second end rested on the rear limit block 210 (see FIG. 12) of the lower extension plate 215 of the respective holding board 21.
  • In assembly, as shown in FIGS. 7 and 12, the [0049] press plate 4 and the two clamping brackets 5 are extended through the through hole 11 into the glove 1, and the upper end of the press plate 4 is combined with the binding strap 13 of the glove 1. Then, each of the two connecting plates 12 (see FIG. 7) of the glove 1 and the respective fixing plate 21 c (see FIG. 7) are together inserted into the insertion groove 21 d of the respective holding board 21, so that the glove 1 and the holding portion 2 are combined with each other rigidly and stably.
  • In operation, referring to FIGS. 8-11 with reference to FIGS. 1-7, when the lower section of the [0050] control lever 31 of the operation unit 3 is pressed by the user's one hand as shown in FIG. 9, the control lever 31 of the operation unit 3 is pivoted on the pivot block 212 of the respective holding board 21, so that the movable rod 32 and the push block 35 of the operation unit 3 are pushed forward to push the pushed block 522 of each of the two clamping brackets 5, thereby moving and pivoting each of the two clamping brackets 5 as shown in FIGS. 10 and 11. The ratchet teeth 523 of the two clamping brackets 5 mesh with each other, so that the two clamping brackets 5 can be synchronously pivoted relative to each other. When the two clamping brackets 5 are pivoted outward as shown in FIG. 11, the glove 1 is fully developed as shown in FIG. 1 to catch the ball. When the ball is caught by the glove 1, the pressing force applied on the lower section of the control lever 31 of the operation unit 3 is removed, so that the two clamping brackets 5 are pivoted inward to return to the original position as shown in FIG. 10 by the restoring force of the compression member and two torsion springs 54 to clamp the ball in the glove 1, thereby preventing the ball from falling from the glove 1.
  • Although the invention has been explained in relation to its preferred embodiment(s) as mentioned above, it is to be understood that many other possible modifications and variations can be made without departing from the scope of the present invention. It is, therefore, contemplated that the appended claim or claims will cover such modifications and variations that fall within the true scope of the invention. [0051]
