Abstract
A wheel structure includes a support rack having two ends each provided with a roller and a control device. The control device is mounted on the respective end of the support rack and is urged on the roller to reduce the rotational speed of the roller. Thus, the rotational speed of the wheel structure can be efficiently controlled to the optimum state, thereby greatly facilitating a learner or a kid employing the wheel structure.
Description
- 1. Field of the Invention
- The present invention relates to a wheel structure, and more particularly to a wheel structure whose rotational speed can be controlled to the optimum state.
- 2. Description of the Related Art
- A conventional roller skate or scooter can provide an exercising an amusing effect to the user, so that the user can employ the roller skate or scooter to obtain an exercising effect or a funny amusement. However, the rotational speed of the rollers or wheels of the conventional roller skate or scooter cannot be adjusted or controlled, thereby easily causing danger to the user, especially to the learner or the kid, when the conventional roller skate or scooter is moved at a higher speed.
- The primary objective of the present invention is to provide a wheel structure whose rotational speed can be efficiently controlled to the optimum state, thereby facilitating a learner or a kid employing the wheel structure.
- Another objective of the present invention is to provide a wheel structure that is available for the roller skate or scooter. thereby facilitating the learner or the kid practicing the roller skate or scooter.
- A further objective of the present invention is to provide a wheel structure, wherein the control device produces a braking effect to the roller by the friction between the urging face of the push member and the plane portion of the roller, so as to reduce and control the rotational speed of the roller.
- In accordance with the present invention, there is provided a wheel structure, comprising:
- a support rack having two ends each provided with a roller and a control device; wherein:
- the roller is rotatably mounted on the respective end of the support rack;
- the control device is mounted on the respective end of the support rack and is urged on the roller to reduce the rotational speed of the roller.
- Further benefits and advantages of the present invention will become apparent after a careful reading of the detailed description with appropriate reference to the accompanying drawings.
- FIG. 1 is an exploded perspective view of a wheel structure in accordance with the preferred embodiment of the present invention;
- FIG. 2 is an exploded perspective view of the wheel structure used for a roller skate in accordance with the preferred embodiment of the present invention;
- FIG. 3 is a perspective assembly view of the wheel structure used for a roller skate in accordance with the preferred embodiment of the present invention;
- FIG. 4 is a partially cut-away side plan cross-sectional assembly view of the wheel structure as shown in FIG. 1;
- FIG. 5 is a schematic operational view of the wheel structure as shown in FIG. 4 in use;
- FIG. 6 is a plan assembly view of the wheel structure in accordance with another embodiment of the present invention;
- FIG. 7 is a schematic operational view of the wheel structure as shown in FIG. 6 in use; and
- FIG. 8 is a perspective assembly view of the wheel structure used for a scooter in accordance with the preferred embodiment of the present invention.
- Referring to the drawings and initially to FIGS. 1-5, a wheel structure in accordance with the preferred embodiment of the present invention is used for a
roller skate 2 and comprises asupport rack 10 secured on the bottom of ashoe 20 of theroller skate 2. - The
support rack 10 has twoends 12 each provided with aroller 30 and acontrol device 50. Preferably, each of the twoends 12 of thesupport rack 10 has a rectangular shape and is provided with ashaft 11 protruded outward therefrom. - The
roller 30 is rotatably mounted on theshaft 11 of therespective end 12 of thesupport rack 10 by abearing 40. Theroller 30 has a first side formed with anannular flange 35. Theannular flange 35 of theroller 30 has a side formed with aplane portion 32 and has an inner wall formed with atoothed portion 33. Theroller 30 has a second side formed with astepped recess 31 for receiving thebearing 40. - In addition, the
shaft 11 of thesupport rack 10 is formed with anouter thread 110, and alocking nut 112 is screwed on theouter thread 110 of theshaft 11 of thesupport rack 10 and is rested on thebearing 40 as shown in FIG. 4, so that theroller 30 is rotatably mounted on theshaft 11 of therespective end 12 of thesupport rack 10 by thelocking nut 112. - The
control device 50 is secured on therespective end 12 of thesupport rack 10 and is mounted in theannular flange 35 of theroller 30. Thecontrol device 50 includes acover 53, acircular plate 52, apush member 51, and an adjustingmember 54. - The
cover 53 of thecontrol device 50 is secured on therespective end 12 of thesupport rack 10. Thecover 53 has a first side having a center formed with arectangular positioning hole 532 mounted on the respectiverectangular end 12 of thesupport rack 10. Thecover 53 has a periphery formed with athrough hole 531. - The
circular plate 52 of thecontrol device 50 is combined with thecover 53 by ascrew member 56. Thecircular plate 52 has a first side rested on a second side of thecover 53 and a second side formed with atapered receiving recess 522. Thereceiving recess 522 of thecircular plate 52 has a center formed with athrough hole 521 aligning with thethrough hole 531 of thecover 53. Thereceiving recess 522 of thecircular plate 52 has a periphery formed with at least one protrudingrib 523. Thecircular plate 52 has an outer wall rested on thetoothed portion 33 of theroller 30. - The
push member 51 of thecontrol device 50 is movably mounted on the second side of thecircular plate 52. Thepush member 51 has a first end formed with atapered head 510 rotatably mounted in thereceiving recess 522 of thecircular plate 52. Thetapered head 510 of thepush member 51 has a periphery formed with at least oneguide slot 513 for receiving theprotruding rib 523 of thecircular plate 52. Thetapered head 510 of thepush member 51 has a side formed with anurging face 512 that can be moved to press theplane portion 32 of theannular flange 35 of theroller 30. Thepush member 51 has a second end extended through the throughhole 521 of thecircular plate 52 and the throughhole 531 of thecover 53. Preferably, the second end of thepush member 51 is formed with anouter thread 511. - The adjusting
member 54 of thecontrol device 50 is rotatably mounted on the first side of thecover 53 and is combined with the second end of thepush member 51 for rotating thepush member 51. Preferably, the adjustingmember 54 is formed with aninner thread 541 screwed on theouter thread 511 of the second end of thepush member 51. - In operation, referring to FIGS. 4 and 5 with reference to FIGS. 1-3, the
roller 30 is rotatably mounted on theshaft 11 of therespective end 12 of thesupport rack 10, while thecontrol device 50 is secured on therespective end 12 of thesupport rack 10 and is mounted in theannular flange 35 of theroller 30. - When the adjusting
member 54 is rotated, thepush member 51 is rotated by rotation of the adjustingmember 54, so that the protrudingrib 523 of thecircular plate 52 is detached from theguide slot 513 of thetapered head 510 of thepush member 51 and is urged on the periphery of thetapered head 510 of thepush member 51, thereby forcing thepush member 51 to move toward theroller 30 and to move from the position as shown in FIG. 4 to the position as shown in FIG. 5, such that theurging face 512 of thetapered head 510 of thepush member 51 is urged on theplane portion 32 of theannular flange 35 of theroller 30, thereby producing a braking effect to theroller 30 by the friction between theurging face 512 of thepush member 51 and theplane portion 32 of theroller 30, so as to reduce the rotational speed of theroller 30. - Alternatively, when the adjusting
member 54 is rotated in the reverse direction, thepush member 51 is rotated by rotation of the adjustingmember 54, so that the protrudingrib 523 of thecircular plate 52 is received in theguide slot 513 of thetapered head 510 of thepush member 51, thereby forcing thepush member 51 to move away from theroller 30 and to move from the position as shown in FIG. 5 to the position as shown in FIG. 4, such that theurging face 512 of thetapered head 510 of thepush member 51 is detached from theplane portion 32 of theannular flange 35 of theroller 30, and theroller 30 can be rotated normally. - Referring to FIGS. 6 and 7, a wheel structure in accordance with another embodiment of the present invention is shown, wherein the receiving
recess 522 of thecircular plate 52 is formed with aslit 60, so that thecircular plate 52 has a flexible feature and can be expanded outward when thereceiving recess 522 of thecircular plate 52 is compressed. - In operation, when the adjusting
member 54 forces thepush member 51 to move away from theplane portion 32 of theroller 30, thetapered head 510 of thepush member 51 will push and compress the tapered receivingrecess 522 of thecircular plate 52, so that thecircular plate 52 can be expanded outward from the position as shown in FIG. 6 to the position as shown in FIG. 7, and the outer wall of thecircular plate 52 is urged on the inner wall of theroller 30, thereby producing a braking effect to theroller 30 by the friction between the outer wall of thecircular plate 52 and the inner wall of theroller 30, so as to reduce the rotational speed of theroller 30. In addition, the outer wall of thecircular plate 52 is rested on thetoothed portion 33 of theroller 30 to enhance the friction effect. - Referring to FIG. 8, the wheel structure in accordance with the preferred embodiment of the present invention is used for a
scooter 70, and thesupport rack 10 is secured on the bottom of thescooter 70. - Although the invention has been explained in relation to its preferred embodiment(s) as mentioned above, it is to be understood that many other possible modifications and variations can be made without departing from the scope of the present invention. It is, therefore, contemplated that the appended claim or claims will cover such modifications and variations that fall within the true scope of the invention.
Claims (18)
1. A wheel structure, comprising:
a support rack having two ends each provided with a roller and a control device; wherein:
the roller is rotatably mounted on the respective end of the support rack;
the control device is mounted on the respective end of the support rack and is urged on the roller to reduce the rotational speed of the roller.
2. The wheel structure in accordance with claim 1 , wherein the control device includes a cover, a circular plate, a push member, and an adjusting member, wherein:
the cover of the control device is secured on the respective end of the support rack and has a first side and a second side;
the circular plate has a first side rested on the second side of the cover and a second side formed with a tapered receiving recess;
the push member of the control device is movably mounted on the second side of the circular plate and has a first end formed with a tapered head rotatably mounted in the receiving recess of the circular plate and a second end extended through the circular plate and the cover;
the tapered head of the push member has a side formed with an urging face that can be moved to press a plane portion of the roller; and
the adjusting member of the control device is rotatably mounted on the first side of the cover and is combined with the second end of the push member for rotating the push member.
3. The wheel structure in accordance with claim 2 , wherein the cover of the control device has a periphery formed with a through hole for passage of the second end of the push member.
4. The wheel structure in accordance with claim 3 , wherein the receiving recess of the circular plate has a center formed with a through hole aligning with the through hole of the cover for passage of the second end of the push member.

The wheel structure in accordance with claim 2 , wherein the receiving recess of the circular plate has a periphery formed with at least one protruding rib, and the tapered head of the push member has a periphery formed with at least one guide slot for receiving the protruding rib of the circular plate.
6. The wheel structure in accordance with claim 2 , wherein each of the two ends of the support rack has a rectangular shape, and the first side of the cover has a center formed with a rectangular positioning hole mounted on the respective rectangular end of the support rack.
7. The wheel structure in accordance with claim 2 , wherein the circular plate of the control device is combined with the cover by a screw member.
8. The wheel structure in accordance with claim 2 , wherein the roller has an inner wall formed with a toothed portion, and the circular plate has an outer wall rested on the toothed portion of the roller.
9. The wheel structure in accordance with claim 2 , wherein the second end of the push member is formed with an outer thread, and the adjusting member is formed with an inner thread screwed on the outer thread of the second end of the push member.
10. The wheel structure in accordance with claim 1 , wherein each of the two ends of the support rack is provided with a shaft protruded outward therefrom, and the roller is rotatably mounted on the shaft of the respective end of the support rack.
11. The wheel structure in accordance with claim 10 , wherein the roller is rotatably mounted on the shaft of the respective end of the support rack by a bearing.
12. The wheel structure in accordance with claim 11 , wherein the roller is formed with a stepped recess for receiving the bearing.
13. The wheel structure in accordance with claim 11 , wherein the shaft of the support rack is formed with an outer thread, and a locking nut is screwed on the outer thread of the shaft of the support rack and is rested on the bearing, so that the roller is rotatably mounted on the shaft of the respective end of the support rack by the locking nut.
14. The wheel structure in accordance with claim 1 , wherein the roller has a side formed with an annular flange, the annular flange of the roller has a side formed with a plane portion and has an inner wall formed with a toothed portion.
15. The wheel structure in accordance with claim 2 , wherein the receiving recess of the circular plate is formed with a slit, so that the circular plate has a flexible feature and can be expanded outward when the receiving recess of the circular plate is compressed.
16. The wheel structure in accordance with claim 15 , wherein the circular plate can be expanded outward, so that the outer wall of the circular plate is urged on the inner wall of the roller.
17. The wheel structure in accordance with claim 1 , wherein the support rack is secured on a bottom of a shoe of a roller skate.
18. The wheel structure in accordance with claim 1 , wherein the support rack is secured on a bottom of a scooter.
