Description

    FIELD OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention relates to a food plate assembly, and more particularly, to a multiple-function food plate assembly for serving different types of food.
  • BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • A conventional food plate generally includes an extra function for keeping food cool and is disclosed in Taiwan Utility Model No. M396062 which comprises a body and a base. The body has a first connection portion at the underside thereof so as to be connected to a second connection portion on the top of the base. The base has a recess defined in the top thereof in which ice cubes are received to cool the food.
  • However, to accommodate ice cubes is the only one function that the conventional food plate has and restricts the range of uses.
  • The present invention intends to provide a food plate assembly that includes a base, a swivel member and a cover, the three parts can be assembled in multiple ways to meet different needs.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention relates to a food plate assembly and comprises a base with a swivel member pivotably connected thereto, the swivel member has a first recess defined therein. A plate is located on the base and has a first surface and a second surface, wherein multiple engaging portions are located around the first surface and the second surface has multiple second recesses. A support portion extends from the second surface and has a third recess. A cover is removbaly mounted on the plate and has a handle. The cover has a fourth recess.
  • Preferably, the engaging portions are bosses
  • Preferably, the first surface of the plate is directly put on the swivel member and the engaging portions on the first surface are engaged along an outer periphery of the swivel member. Salad is served on the plate.
  • Preferably, the support portion of the plate is put on a table top and the fourth recess of the cover is mounted on the first surface of the plate. The inside of the cover contacts the engaging portions of the plate so as to serve cakes on the plate.
  • Preferably, the plate is arranged by its second surface facing upward and the cover is reversed and the handle of the cover is inserted into the third recess in the support portion. The protrusion of the cover is engaged with the inside of the support portion so as to serve beverages in the cover.
  • The food plate assembly includes the following advantages:
  • Salad is served by the combination of the base and the plate of the food plate assembly.
  • Cakes are served by the combination of the cover and the plate of the food plate assembly.
  • Beverages are served by the combination of the cover and the plate of the food plate assembly.
  • Bottled drinks are served by the combination of the cover and the plate of the food plate assembly.
  • The present invention will become more obvious from the following description when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings which show, for purposes of illustration only, a preferred embodiment in accordance with the present invention.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • FIG. 1 is an exploded view to show the food plate assembly of the present invention;
  • FIG. 2 shows that the food plate assembly of the present invention is used to serve salad;
  • FIG. 3 shows that the food plate assembly of the present invention is used to serve cakes;
  • FIG. 4 shows that the food plate assembly of the present invention is used to serve beverages, and
  • FIG. 5 shows that the food plate assembly of the present invention is used to serve bottled drinks.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
  • Referring to FIG. 1, the food plate assembly of the present invention comprises a base 1, a plate 2 and a cover 3.
  • The base 1 has a swivel member 11 pivotably connected thereto which is rotated relative to the base 1, and the swivel member 11 has a first recess 12 defined therein.
  • The plate 2 is located on the base 1 and has a first surface 21 and a second surface 22, wherein the first surface 21 is in contact with the swivel member 11 and has multiple engaging portions 23 located around the first surface 21. These engaging protrusions 23 are bosses. The second surface 22 has multiple second recesses 24 divided by ridges and a support portion 25 extends from the second surface 22 and a third recess 26 is defined in the support portion 25.
  • The cover 3 is removbaly mounted on the plate 2 and has a handle 31. A fourth recess 32 is defined in the top of the cover 3. The cover 3 further has a protrusion 33 extending from the top thereof and located around the handle 31.
  • As shown in FIG. 2, when salad is served by the combination of the base 1 and the plate 2 of the food plate assembly, ice cubes “A” are put in the first recess 12 of the swivel member 11 and the first surface 21 of the plate 2 is directly put on the swivel member 11 and the engaging portions 23 on the first surface 21 are engaged along the outer periphery of the swivel member 11 so that the plate 2 is positioned on the swivel member 11. Different types of foods “B” are put in the second recesses 24 of the second surface 22 of the plate 2 and the dressing “C” is put in the third recess 26 of the support portion 25. The ice cubes “A” in the first recess 12 of the swivel member 11 keep the foods “B” and the dressing “C” fresh.
  • As shown in FIG. 3, when cakes “D” are served by the combination of the cover 3 and the plate 2 of the food plate assembly, the plate 2 is reversed and the support portion 25 of the plate 2 is put on a table top and the fourth recess 32 of the cover 3 is mounted on the first surface 21 of the plate 2. The inside of the cover 3 contacts the engaging portions 23 of the plate 2 so as to position the cover 3 relative to the plate 2. Cakes are served on the plate 2. The cover 3 prevents the cakes “D” from being in contact with dust.
  • As shown in FIG. 4, when beverages “E” are served by the food plate assembly, the plate 2 is arranged by its second surface 22 facing upward and the first surface 21 is put on the table top. The engaging portions 23 provide friction to position the plate 2 on the table top. The cover 3 is reversed and the handle 31 of the cover 3 is inserted into the third recess 26 in the support portion 25. The protrusion 33 of the cover 3 is engaged with the inside of the support portion 25 so that the cover 3 is secured on the plate. Beverages “E” are served in the fourth recess 32 of the cover 3.
  • As shown in FIG. 5, when bottled drinks “F” are served by the food plate assembly, the first surface 21 of the plate 2 is directly put on the table top and the handle 31 of the cover 3 is inserted into the third recess 26 of the support portion 25 of the plate 2. The protrusion 33 of the cover 3 is engaged with the inside of the support portion 25. Ice cubes “A” are put in the fourth recess 32 of the cover 3 so that the bottled drinks “F” are cooled in the ice cubes “A”.
  • While we have shown and described the embodiment in accordance with the present invention, it should be clear to those skilled in the art that further embodiments may be made without departing from the scope of the present invention.
