Abstract

The invention relates to a device (1) for transporting clothes comprising a hanger body (10) with a triangular component (12) for supporting a garment with shoulders, said body having a rear face (13) and an opposing front face (14) with a recess (15) of a size to contain folded trousers.

Description

  • The present invention relates to a device for transporting clothes, especially jackets, trousers, suits, and shirts.
  • Many people wish to transport jackets, suits and shirts. This may be people commuting to work on bicycles and motorcycles, and wishing to carry clothes to a workplace, or business people travelling on trains and aeroplanes. For many people it is difficult to keep a jacket suit and or shirt free from creases. Some people use specially bags for such clothes but it can be extremely cumbersome carrying them in the hand, and if such bags are folded and used like suitcases (e.g. placed on luggage belts in airports and placed in an aircraft hold) the clothes still become creased.
  • The invention seeks to provide a solution to this problem.
  • According to the present invention there is provided a device for transporting clothes comprising a hanger body with a triangular component for supporting a garment with shoulders, said body having a rear face and an opposing front face with a recess of a size to contain folded trousers.
  • Preferably the hanger body has a hook or strap to hang the body on a rail.
  • Preferably the device further comprises a flat trouser former with rounded edges around which trousers can be wrapped, in use said recess being of a size to receive the former and wrapped trousers. Preferably one or more straps are provided to hold the formed and wrapped trousers in the recess.
  • Preferably the device further comprises a second flat former with rounded edges around which the lower part of a garment below the garment shoulders can be wrapped.
  • Preferably a bag or case is further provided to contain a garment on the device.
  • The hanger body, first former and/or second former may further include storage compartments.
  • The hanger body may further include cushion pads to support the shoulders of a garment.
  • The hanger body, first former and/or second former may include a recess to accommodate a tie.
  • The hanger body may be generally rectangular with one long edge providing an apex to provide the triangular component. The hanger body may have rounded edges.
  • The hanger body may be adapted to receive a support stand.
  • The Hanger body may include one or more slots through which trouser legs may be passed.
  • An embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawings in which:
  • FIG. 1 shows a perspective view of a device,
  • FIG. 2 shows a perspective view of a case for the device,
  • FIGS. 3A,3B,3C, and 3D shows a suit being folded and supported on the device of FIG. 1, and
  • FIG. 4 shows an alternative hanger body to that shown in FIG. 1.
  • Referring to FIG. 1, there is shown a device 1 for transporting clothes.
  • Device 1 has a hanger body 10 which is generally rectangular with one long edge with a central apex 11 to create a triangular component 12 for supporting a garment with shoulders. Body 10 has a rear face 13 and an opposing front face 14 with a recess 15 of a size to contain folded trousers. Recess 15 has an open top face 15A and an open side face 15B. Hanger body 10 has all its edges rounded.
  • Hanger body 10 has a strap 16 (or alternatively a hook) to hang the body on a rail or hook.
  • Device 1 has a flat rectangular trouser former 20 with rounded edges around which trousers can be wrapped. Recess 15 is of a size to receive the former 20 and wrapped trousers. A Velcro strap 17 is provided to hold the former and wrapped trousers in the recess 15.
  • Device 1 also a second flat former 30 with rounded edges around which the lower part of a garment below the garment shoulders can be wrapped. Second former 30 has a recess 31 for a tie. Such a recess may be provided in first former 20 and hanger body 10.
  • The hanger body 10, first former 20 and/or second former 30 may further include storage compartments (not shown). The hanger body 10 may further include cushion pads 18A,18B to support the shoulders of a garment.
  • Referring now to FIG. 2, there is shown a case 40 to contain a garment on the device 1. Case 40 is formed from first and second hinged sides 41,42 which can be zipped together by a zip 43. An opening 44 is provided in the top of the case through which the device 1 can be held by inserting a hand through the opening 44. Case 40 has beading 45,46 on along the edges of the front and rear faces of the case to help prevent the contents from becoming crushed.
  • Referring now to FIGS. 3A to 3D there is shown, in schematic form, the use of the device 1 to transport a suit.
  • As shown in FIG. 3A, suit trousers X may be wrapped around first former 20 and placed in recess 20 in hanger body 10.
  • As shown in FIG. 3B, a suit jacket Y is then placed of the hanger body 10 with the hanger body supporting the jacket shoulders. The jacket arms are placed on the front of the jacket. The second former 30 is placed on the jacket.
  • As shown in FIG. 3C, the jacket tail is rolled over the second former 30. The top of the jacket is then rolled over the former and jacket tail as shown in FIG. 3D and placed in case 40.
  • Once in the case 40, the case can be placed in a rucksack or suitcase.
  • Device 1 prevents the suit from becoming creased, especially because of the round edges of the hanger body 10, first former 20 and second former 30. If desired a shirt can be placed on the hanger body before the jackets.
  • Referring now to FIG. 4, there is shown an alternative device 50 which a hanger body 10 identical to hanger body 10 shown in FIG. 1, except that slots 51,52 are formed in the base of the recess which extend through the hanger body. Slots 51,52 may be used to receive the legs of trousers, and the trousers can then be folded into the recess or around the hanger body. Formers 20,30 need not be provided. Device 50 may be used in a similar way to device 1.
  • The device 1 may conveniently be formed from a foam or moulded from plastics. Alternatively the device 1 may be produced as an inflatable product which can be deflated for storage when not in use.
  • The invention may take a form different to that specifically described above. For example the hanger body may be adapted to receive a support stand so it may be used on a table for example, e.g. by a salesman selling clothing.
  • Further modifications will be apparent to those skilled in the art without departing from the scope of the present invention.
