IMPROVEMENT IN PORTABLE sHowER-BATl-ls.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 202,015, dated April 2, 1878; application filed July 28, 1877.
To all whom 'it may concern:
Be it known that I, GYRUs R. FUREY, of Logansport, in the county of Cass and State of Indiana, have invented a new and valuable Improvement in Portable Shower-Baths; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation ofthe same, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making a part of this specification, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon.
Figure l of the drawings is arepresentation of a side view of my portable shower-bath, and Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional view thereof.
The nature of my invention consists in certain improvements in a portable shower-bath, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth, and pointed out in the claim.
The annexed drawing, to which reference is made, fully illustrates my invention. V
A represents the tub proper, of any suitable dimensions, provided with a rim, B, which is made removable, as shown, and in two or more sections. These sections are made flaring, and the edges of the sections formed with interlocking joints, so as to be easily and quickly united together or detached, as occasion may require.
From the tub A extend two rods, C C, on opposite sides, which rods may be detachable from the tub or permanently attached thereto, as desired. Upon the upper ends of these rods are placed tubes d d, which are permanently attached to the sides of a reservoir, D,
so that said reservoir can be attached to or detached from the rods, as desired.
From the center of the bottom of this reservoir extends a short outlet-pipe, a, having an ordinary sprinkler, b, at its lower end. From opposite sides of the outlet-pipe a extend two T-shaped pipes, h h, which are perforated, as
shown, so as to give a shower on two opposite sides of `the bather, in addition to the center sprinkler cl, which simply gives the shower ontop of the head. Y
.On the rods G G are suitable heads E E, to which are hinged two semicircular wire guards,
G G, and on these guards are, by .means of l rings i t', suspended a curtain, H, that can be drawn around the bather or not, as desired.
When not desired for use, the guards G can Abe thrown upward out of the way, and the entire bath-tub is made portable, so as to be carried from place to place, as may be required, and can be easily arranged for use.
Above the outlet a. in the reservoir D is a valve, I, operated by a cord, f, for letting on and shutting 0E the water.
I am aware that a bath-tub has been prov vided with a removable and flaring rim, and such I disclaim as my invention.
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
In a portable bathing apparatus, the rods C GYRUS R. FUREY.
