Description

NOV. 3, 1936. |MLERI" 2,059,949
KEEPER FOR A GUN SLING Filed Sept. 30, 1935 Invenlor Q By 6 A tlomey Patented Nov. 3, 1936 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE 1 Claim.
This invention relates to a keeper member for a gun sling, the general object of the invention being to provide a substantially wedge-shaped member having pins for engaging holes in the 5 strap of the sling and located between and holding the loop members in place.
This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing and specifically pointed out in the appended claim.
In describing the invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawing wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which:
Figure 1 is an edge view of the gun sling showing the invention in use thereon.
Figure 2 is a top plan view of Figure 1.
Figure 3 is a section on the line 3--3 of Figure 2.
Figure 4 is a perspective view of the keeper member.
Figure 5 is a sectional view through said member.
In this drawing, the letter A indicates the strap parts which are adapted to be held in a loop B at its center portion by the endless loops (1 and b in the usual manner, the parts B forming a sling for the arm of the user and should be kept at an even tension on the arm. In carrying out my invention I provide a plate-like member I which has its faces of arcuate shape so that its central portion is of thicker dimension than the side edge portions and pins 2 project from both faces of the member I for engaging the hole 3 in the strap parts when the member is placed between the two parallel parts and between the loop parts a and b as shown in Figures 2 and 3. The lower pins are provided with enlarged ends 2 so that these lower pins will engage the perforations in the lower strap parts as adjustment is made by moving the upper straps so that it is not necessary under ordinary adjustment to remove the lower pins from the perforations of the lower strap parts as adjustments are made by adjusting the upper strap parts through the parts a and b and placing different perforations in the upper parts over the upper pins.
Thus this device composed of the part I and the pins 2 is placed between the loops a and b and will hold these parts in adjusted position.
It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of the invention will be readily apparent.
It is to be understood that changes may be made in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts provided that such changes fall within the scope of the appended claim.
What is claimed is:-
An adjustable retainer for strap members consisting of a pair of strap portions disposed together and provided with longitudinally spaced openings therein; a pair of slide loops on the strap portions, a plate for interposition between the strap portions and between the slide loops, the end portions of said plate being tapered, a pin projecting from one side of the plate for selected disposition through one of the openings of one of the strap portions, each of said slide loops being in close proximity to the plate to prevent displacement of the strap ends from the pins of the plate.
