' This invention relates to container closures.
The general object of the invention is to provide an improved container closure the use of "which makes available a freshly prepared solution.
A more specific object of the invention is to provide a novel cork for a container.
Other objects and the advantages of this invention will be apparent from the following description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, wherein the figure is a sectional view, partly in elevation, showing a container with my invention applied thereto.
This application is a division of my co-pending application, Serial No. 696,506, filed November 3, 1933.
In the drawing I show a container which may be any type of receptacle, at 85. This container is shown as provided with a neck 86 which ha a peripheral bead ll thereon, and has a rubber closure member, indicated at 88, thereon. This closure member includes an inner skirt 89 and an outer skirt 90 which engages the neck 86 therebetween.
The closure is provided with a cavity ll in which a capsule or tablet 92 is placed. The cavity is sealed by a disk 93 which engages the wall of the cavity. The closure is provided with a hole 84, the lower end of which is closed by a diaphragm 95 and the upper end which is open to receive a pin 88 having a head 01 which is engaged by a top 88 of a metal cap which is provided with a skirt 99.
The skirt cap is of a size to slide on the outer periphery of the outer skirt OI. The skirt 9. and the skirt 00 may be covered with a sealing material such as wax ill, or other material.
Inusethe top 9! oi'thecapispressed downwardly forcing the pin 08 through the diaphragm it thus engaging the capsule or tablet l2 and causing it to force the disk 03 and the capsule into the vehicle in the container 86. This construction is designed for containers in which it is desired to maintain a drug in a compartment sealed oil from the solvent for tin drug. For example, since novocain deteriorates when in solution, a novocain tablet or powder may be placed in the chamber in the closure and the solvent for the novocain placed in the main body oi the container. When the disk is forced out of the reoess, the novocain will enter into the solvent providing the desired solution. After this is done the cap 99 and the pin it are removed and the material suitably withdrawn from the container I! after which the pin is thrown away.

The cap 98 may then be filled with gauze which has been saturated in alcohol and replaced if all of the solution has not been used. The cotton saturated with alcohol will close the recess temporarily and prevent the contamination of the contents.
From the foregoing description it will be apparent that I have invented a novel container closure which can be economically manufactured and which is highly eflicient in use.
Having thus described my invention, I claim:
1. In a container, a closure for the container having a chamber for a preparation therein, a sealing disk in sealing relation with said container and closing the bottom or said chamber, said closure having a hole in the upper portion thereof, a puncturable diaphragm between said hole and the top of said chamber, puncturing means in said hole, a movable cap on said closure, said puncturing means being operatively connected with said cap to move therewith to puncture said diaphragm and enter the chamber and release the sealing disk.
2. In a container, a closure member 0! rubber having spaced downwardly directed concentric skirts to embrace the upper edge of the container, said closure having a cavity therein, a disk engaging the wall of said cavity in sealing relation thereto, said closure having a hole above and in alignment with the cavity, a puncturable.
diaphragm between the bottom of said hole and said cavity. a pin in said hole, an outer metallic cap having a skirt slidably engaging the outermost or said first mentioned skirts. said cap engaging said pin whereby when said cap is slid downwardly on said closure said pin moves inwardly to puncture the diaphragm and into the cavity to release the sealing disk.
3. In a container, a hollow body member, an inner partition forming member and an outer partition forming member, said partition forming members beingeimperforate and spaced apart to define a sham r, at least one of said partition forming members being resilient, a drug in the chamber, a vehicle for the drug in the hollow body member, closure means slidable axially along the container, means operatively connected with the closure means and movable in a predetermined path, said partitions being located in the predetermined path, the parts being so constructed and arranged that movement of the closure will force said second mentioned means in said predetermined path to release the inner partition and release the dru ARTHUR E.
