My invention relates to improvements in play garments, and particularly to meansincorporated therein in cooperative relation whereby maximum freedom of motion of the wearer is provided for at the points of greatest activity, such as the shoulders, the waist, the crotch, and the legs, and an important object of the invention is to provide arrangements of this character which enable the production of a garment of the character indicated which is practical, rela-- tively inexpensive, and is suitable alike for grown-ups and children, for sports, for work and for lounging.

Other important objects and advantages of my invention will be apparent from a reading of the following description taken in connection with the drawings, wherein for purposes of illustration I have shown preferred embodiments of my invention.

Referring in detail to the drawings, the numeral 5 generally designates the garment which for illustrative purposes may consist of a blouse section 6 and a trouser section 1, although the invention is not necessarily limited to a combination of such sections, it being entirely feasible to provide separate shirt and separate trousers to be worn without relation to each other or to be separably connected, whereas the present I close also the crotch opening l3.

Suitable breast pockets 22 and 23, respectively, may be provided on the breast portion of the front of the waist or shirt section 6.

The trouser or pants section 1 is composed of the legs 24, 25, respectively, which depend from and form a part of the body portion 2G which is provided at the back with a back seam to provide for adequate alterations. The front of the body portion 26 is closed except for the crotch opening [3 already mentioned which may be terminated at the waist area or be a part of or a continuation of the shirt opening, as indicated in Figure 6 of the drawings. Theslide fastener l3 may be extended to operate also along the one side of the crotch opening or a separate slide fastener (which is not shown) may be utilized for closing the crotch opening 13- A covering strip 21 extends along the front opening of the shirt section and along the crotch opening l3 to cover up the slide fastener when the garment is closed.

The legs of the garment may be short-length, knee length like knickerbockers, three-quarter length or full length and may have at the lower I end thereof a tapering conical flastex leg gripping portion 28 which terminates at its lower end in a cuff or similar band 29 which is open at two sides and there provided with snap fasteners or buttons as indicated by the numerals 30 and 3|, respectively, so that the band may be contracted on the leg of the wearer while the upper lastex leg portion 28 provides the desirable give between the band 29 and the cloth portion of the legs. If desired the legs may be of the cuff bottom type as illustrated in Figure 6 of the drawings and be devoid of the lastex bottom above described, such embodiment of the invention being designated Ma and the cuff thereof 28a.

In the embodiment of the invention illustrated the waist or shirt section 6 is connected to the pants or trouser section I by means of a lastex waistband 32 which forms the connection between the said sections, thereby acting as: compensator to equalize the distribution of the shirt section and the trouser section with respect to the body of the wearer during strenuous activities. At opposite front side portions the waistband 32 may be provided with pairs of openings 33, 33 and 34, 34, respectively, with the back of the Waistband being provided with two relatively greatly separated belt receiving openings 35 and 36, respectively. A Waist belt 3'! preferably of material similar to or the same as that from which the remainder of the garment is made is guided inwardly and rearwardly through the front and rear openings 33, 33, respectively, forwardly through the rear opening 35, rearwardly through the rear opening 36 around the outside of the belt section 32 and then laterally inwardly through the first of the openings 34 and forwardly through the succeeding one of the openings 34, so that the opposite ends 38 and 39 of the waist belt are located at the sides of the front of the flexible and expansible waistband 32 as particularly well illustrated in Figure 3 of the drawings, the belt end 39 being provided with suitable rings 40 for enabling adjustably fastening the belt 3'! across the front of the garment.

As illustrated particularly well in Figure of the drawings the crotch portion 2! of the garment which includes the front sections 42 and 43 and the rear sections 44 and 45 is characterized by a diamond-shaped lastex insert 43 which displaces a corresponding amount of the cloth forming the various sections named with the corners thereof located in alignment with the respective side seams 41, 48, the rear seam 49 and the front seam 5B which is aligned with the crotch flap 5| which is disposed at the crotch opening l3.

Attached to and forming a part of the flexible and expansible waistband 32 is the supporter which is generally designated 52 and which is made of lastex in the form illustrated in Figure 3 of the drawings. The portion 53 which passes between the legs of the wearer tapers to a greater width at the front end and thereat merges into two relatively wide outwardly half-elliptical parts 54 and 55 which are separated by a slot 56' and at their upper ends are sewed or otherwise suitably secured to the inner side of the waistband 32 at opposite sides of the front opening as indicated by the numeral 56 in Figure 4 of the drawings. The narrower rear end of the supporter part 53 terminates in two relatively narrow straps 58 and 59 which are attached at relatively widely spaced points at the inner side of the back of the waistband 32 as indicated by the numeral Si! in Figure 4. The flexible and stretchable character of the support 52 and the waistband 32 cooperate to relieve the wearer of any sense of binding or tension, such as exists Where the supporter is attached to ordinary cloth parts of the garment as in the prior art.

The supporter 52 serves a dual purpose as will be understood when it is considered that upon closing the front of the garment the parts 54 and 55 come together and constitute an abdominal support which is contracted inwardly and down-' wardly by the downward stress placed on the lower part of the supporter, thereby affording a type of support desired by golfers, tennis players, and other persons.

Although I have shown and described herein a preferred embodiment of my invention, it is to be definitely understood that I do not desire to limit the application of the invention thereto except as required by the scope of the subjoined claims.

Having described the invention, what is claimed as new is:

1. In a garment of the type described, a shirt section and a trousers section, an elastic waistband connecting the upper end of said trousers section to the lower end of said shirt section, an elastic supporter within said trousers section comprising front portions attached to depend from the forepart of said waistband and rear portions attached to depend from the rear part of said Waistband.

2. In a garment of the type described, a shirt section and a trousers section, an elastic waistband connecting the upper end of said trousers section to the lower end of said shirt section, said waistband being formed with at least two belt passing openings at opposite sides of the forepart thereof and at least two belt passing openings at the back thereof, and a Waist belt passing through said openings and lying along the inner and outer sides of said waistband.

3. In a garment of the type described, a shirt section and a trousers section, an elastic waistband connecting the upper end of said trousers section to the lower end of said shirt section, said waistband being formed with at least two belt passing openings at opposite sides of the forepart thereof and at least two belt passing openings at the back thereof, and a waist belt passing freely through said openings and lying along the inner and outer sides of said Waistband, the free ends of said waist belt terminating in front of the said forepart of the garment and arranged to be connected across and against the front side of the forepart of said waistband.
