2 Claims.
The invention relates to toy figures and has for one of its objects to provide a set of toy figures vmade of wood or some other analogous material the assembly of which will provide great amusement for a child.
The principal object of the invention is to provide means in such a set of toy figures whereby the assembled figures may be arranged in various relationship with each other to simulate acrobatic tricks. 1
The invention will be described in the following specification and illustrated in the accompanying drawing forming a part thereof and in which:
Fig. 1 is a front elevation, parts being in section and parts being broken away, of the toy male figure;
Fig. 2 is a longitudinal sectional view, parts being in elevation, and is taken on the line 2-2 of Fig. 1;
Fig. 3 is a front elevation, part of the head portion being broken away, of the female toy figure; and
Figs. 4, 5 and 6 are elevational views taken on a smaller scale of the two figures shown in different relationship to each other to simulate various acrobatic tricks.
Referring again to the drawing the reference numeral 11] designates the male toy figure and 1 1 the female toy figure. As both figures are substantially identical with the exception of the blocks forming the body portions being of a. different shape a description of. one will suflice for both and the same reference numeralsare applied to both.
The body portion 12 is provided with a pair of openings 13-13 for the leg portions, a pair of openings 14-14 for the arm portions and another opening 15 for the neck portion.
The leg portions comprise dowels 16-16, the ends of which are entered into the openings 13- 13 in the body portion. The opposite ends of the dowels 16-16 are entered into openings 1'1-1'1 of the foot portions 18-18. It will be noted the dowels 16-16 extend only about half way the openings 11-11 in the foot portions, the reason for which will be described hereinafter.
The arm portions comprise dowels 19-19, the ends of which are entered into the openings 14- 14. Their opposite ends are entered into openings 20-213 in the disks 21-21 forming the hand portions. It will also be noted thedowels 19-19 extend only about half way through the openings 20-20, the purpose of which will hereinafter be described. i
The neck portion comprises a dowel 22, one end of which is entered into the opening 15 in the body portion. The opposite end of the dowel 22 is entered into a through opening 23 in the round block 24 forming the head portion.
Thus the toy figures are complete and the child may play with them as such. The toy figures come in knock-down condition and the child derives considerable amusement in assembling them. A plurality of different colored foot portions 11 and hand portions 21 may be provided in the set so that the child may change the color scheme of the figures. All the dowels are preferably slotted at both ends as indicated at 25. This permits of a slight compression when they are entered in the various openings to insure proper positioning and firm holding.
The important aspect of the invention is the means provided whereby the figures may be arranged in different relationships with each other to simulate acrobatic tricks. For this purpose an additional short dowel 26 may be entered into the upper part of the opening 23 of either of the figures.
Assuming the dowel 26 has been enteredinto the opening 23 of the male toy figure as illustrated in the drawing, the opposite end of the dowel is entered into the opening 23 of the female toy figure and the effect is given as shown in Fig. 4 of the head of the male figure supporting the head of the female figure. In Fig. 5 theexposed end of the dowel 26 is entered into one of the openings 1'1 in one of the foot portions 18 and the effect is given of the female figure standing on one leg on the head of the male figure. In Fig. 6 the exposed end of the dowel 26 is entered into one of the openings 2|] in one of the hand portions 21 and the effect is given of the female figure supporting itself on one arm on the head of the male figure.
Other openings might be provided in other parts of either of the figures to give other efiects and naturally the shapes of the figures might be widely changed.
I claim:
1. A toy figure having a body portion, openings in said body portion, dowels forming leg portions and having their upper ends entered in said openings in said body portion, foot portions, openings through said foot portions, the lower ends of the leg forming dowels being entered in and passing part way through said openings, other openings in said body portion, dowels forming arm portions and having their inner ends entered into said tions, the outer ends of the arm forming dowels being entered in and passing part way through the openings in said hand portions, an opening in the upper part of said body portion, a dowel forming a neck portion and having its lower end entered into said opening in the upper part of said bodyportion, a head portion, an opening through said head portion, said neck forming dowel entering the lower end of said opening in said head portion, and a removable dowel entering the upper end of said opening in said head portion, said removable dowel being adapted to cooperate with openings in the hand portions,
foot portions or head portion of another toy figure so as to cause said toy figures to be arranged in various relationship with each other to simulate acrobatic tricks.
2. A pair of toy figures each having body portions, arm portions having hand portions at their extremities, leg portions having foot portions at their extremities, and a head portion, openings in said head portion, dowels forming neck portions, one .end of said dowels entering said openings in said head portions, and the other endof said dowels entering openings in said body portions, and a removable dowel adapted to be entered into the opening in the head portion of one of said figures so that the exposed end of said removable dowel may engage the head portion, hand portions or foot portions of the other of said figures to cause said figures to be arranged in various relationship with each other to simulate acrobatic tricks.
