April 1947- w. LAMPEL ETVAL GUN PERFORATOR FOR O I L WELL CASIHGS Filed Dec. 18, 1939 3 Shams-Shem 3 invention relates to t1 more particularly toaun periomtore such. for cpl ,aeioroilwell casings..
Ae'coinpcred with known devicw oi this mm, which comprise a. member provided with several 1 o detachable gun-bodies inaertedthereinto and with priming wires mounted in the eevcrelpowder-chambers, to our present invention the gun-body consists of an i f .hlockprovidcdwith the bore of the barne-weil' ae vvith the powderher, said M w m hie by means oi at least onedetachable clmember.
The gun-body. which I l l to our invention is made oil-one piece and comprises the barrel as well on the powder-, is of extrcmelv and is further Mme t n-W2 Owing to the on oilthcgun-hody as one piece there will be oh tamed advantage of having it relag veiy Ions bore of the which is favorable with A. tothe t oitheproiectilcae weliaswithrwpecttothoh propertieeoioum mite the out or the i may be 2 for to one Our i oi the eun- 1 l i the tilizotion oi the p oi. the 1:" Q

Furthermore, the well oi said member or elceve is properly dimencloned in the first place to be pressed tightly eflm efithnt Mo i l on her i coneisteachci an integral block wi Y '1, 1e e-ii' Mt m p m y the erasure of the explosion and in the second place to serve as an element for increasing this pressure. In this way said member may also be constructed in the form, 5 or a closed sleeve serving for the reception of the powder charge.
In the accomp i drawings which form part of this specification we have shown an example oi construction of our newflring device, Fig.
l0 1 being a. partial longitu view oi the storeit verse section along line A--B of Fig. 2, Figs.
t and 5 on enlarged longitudinal and transverse section, itivcly, through said mem- I her with the gun-bodies inserted thereinto, Figs.- so' that the latter will term a reinforcing t 6;; and 8 e further enlarged longitudinal eccplan-view and tive view, respectively, or o tigh and closing member of the form o ai sleeve destined to be mounted in'the powder- Rei more particularly to wthe device to w part of our invention co o roi e. sinlring'member i preiemblv comooeed of a jplumlity or i and of o. plurality oieu'perposed gun-co detnchehiy rted thereinto with their orifices o m zliflerent directione. the 30 several powder-c 1o here of said gun-bodice being provided with electrically i wires moimtedine einmnu member.
According. invention furthermore the into the a Mi priming it here i and the powder-chamber t ded therein, said powder-chamber being noble by at least one detachable closure. In this pic of construction were in or it ed-ae may arly be seen from was. t
end 5-thnt the powder-chamber Li is formed by a bore directed perpendicularly to the unis of the barrel, said chamber being surrounded by two oppositely positioned fittings t and t. Surrounding these fittings t and t a preferably hardened sleeve t is mounted in said sinking member i, d sleeve i being introduced at its rear part which preferably is of conical coni'orrnution. iin annular electrical conductor 9 is provided on said so run-body, said conductor mg contact with the contact member It, on electrical circuit being thus established between the priming cable mounted in the sinking body i and the chamber for the powder-charge, when the gun-body is inserted into said sinking member. The gun r is threaded into the a. member i and is hdld htil provided with a sleeve 8 which'surronnds and is in tapered engagement with the body. The priming cables are mounted within a groove it which Y preferably is of helical conformation and extends over the periphery oifthe sinking member. -baid groove II is covered up by means oi a ledge it which is welded to the sinking member l, thus tightly closing said groove. The ledge 62 is provided at proper places with apertureswhich may be closed by means of screws l2? permitting access to said groove and the cable therein'at the point of contact with the contact member 10. 1
Access to the powder-chamber or r d may be had by unscrewing the gun-body 2 and remov ing the fittings 5 and 8, so that on the one hand the projectile may be introduced and on the other hand the powder-chamber may be charged with powder.v With the fittings 5, it removed the projectile will be inserted into the bore 3 through its inner end into which it snuglyflts. The powin loose condition or enclosed'within a container or cartridge.
In the gun-body there is further provided a channel I leading to the currentconductor 9 and adapted to contain a priming cable (not shown) that connects said conductor with the'powdcrchamber 4 Owing to the high pressures arising in the device there must be provided special tightening der may be inserted into the powder-chamber means which, however, can be applied oniy'with difllculties at the place priming cable. g
In this respect there is provided a remedy according to our invention by using a fitting inserted into the powder-chamber, said fitting being preferably of the term of a sleeve as shown in a small scale in Fig. 4 and in a larger scale in Figs. 6, l and 8. This fitting h, h is made oi strong material and. for instance, maybe drawn from a piece of metaloi sumcient' strength to hold the combustion gases until they rupture the 'casing of introduction of the at the bore 3. The primer 9 is mounted on the cover of the fitting h, one terminal for the primer being in conductive connection with the body of the fitting at it, while theother carrier d1 serves as current supply member for the primer. For this purpose the carrier d1 is mounted at some point remote from the point d: at which the priming wire comes out of me groove -'l in the gun further so mounted within a groove 1; cithe fitting h, 11' that by action of the gas-pressure the wire will be pressed against the surface of the powder-chamber so that the conductor who introduced into said chamber will be tightly en closed all around.
The fitting thus tightly closes up with its ne ripherai surface h' thebore t of the barrel il ilti is properly dimensioned to serve at the same time as a cover tor the barrel. This covcrwill be sub Ject to rupture, thus permitting the gases to act upon the projectile not sooner than a sufilciently large gas-pressure has been developed in the paw derchamber.
The fitting may be open at one side thereof, as
shown. but instead thereoint may also be pro vided withva bottom I), as indicated in Fig. 6. In
this case the fitting consists of a closed container or cartridge containing the powder-charge, said container or cartridge efiecting itself upon anplosion the tightening against the place 01 intro-v duction of the priming wire and forming at the" same time th'e surface-which serves to cause the gases to act on the projectileras soon as the gaspressure has attained a value sumcient to eilect I a rupture of the wall at the place of thebarreland to force the projectile through the latter.
We claim: a
