This invention relates to` new and useful imy provements in cases, and has` more particular reference to a mascara case.

The invention particularly proposes the construction of a mascara case from thermoplastic orthermo-setting materials soconstructed that it hasva hinge and a lock formed entirely fromV struct-the hinge that the two case sections maybe assembled by merely engaging them.r together. They may be disassembled by forcing them apart.V Y Y The inventionalso proposes to so construct the case sections that locking elements are formed thereon which are capable of engagingeach other to hold the case sections closed. It is an object of this inventionzto so construct the locking elements that they are formed. entirely from the material of the case sections. Moreover, the locking elements are so formed that the case sections may be constructed with a simple molding die.

The invention also proposes to so design each of the case sections that theymay be constructed with simple molding dies. The case sections may be provided with partitions for.y dividing oil dif--A ferent chambers which ,are open in the same direction, for each of the case sections, to permit simple opening and closingof the molding dies.

A small flange 30 is formed upon the front top end of the top section Il and is opposed to a small iiange-like projection 3I formed upon the bottom of the front end of the base section I so as to be opposed to the iiange and to constitute grips so that the case sections may be easilyu opened and closed. The top front corners rof the flange-like side walls I3 are formed with notches 36 constituting latch elements. These notches 36 have down# wardly and rearwardly beveled ends 31 (see Fig. '7) and beveled faces 38 (see Fig. 6) to facilitate the latching action. These notches 36 are complementary to bolt-like projections 39 formed upon the ends of the fiange 30. The projections 239 have beveled faces (see Fig. 4) and beveled ends 4I (see Fig. 3) facilitating the inter-engagement with the bevels of the notches 36.

It is an important featurel of this invention that the case sections I0 and II may be molded in a simple molding die. It should be noted that the base section I IJ has all openings and inclined faces directedtowards thefront of the case. Forth-is reason adie may be constructed which separates upon a vertical plane through the centers of the studs I4. This vertical plane must terminate a short distance above the curved edge 350i the rear wall I6. Thesections of the die will now be openable right and left.. The top section I6 has all of its openings and inclined faces directed upwards and downwards. For this Y reason it may be constructed with a simple die whiehopens up and down.v The case sections Ill and II are molded separately.A They `are then Vconnected by placing the-top sectionV II in a vertical position while the bottom section ID is in a horizontal position, as illustrated in Fig. 7.. The case section I'I is then moved towards the left so that the'studs I4 ride into the openings 25.V Thebeveled faces 26 of the studs I4 will ride against theadjacent edges of the top wall 2I fof the Vsection II causing the flange-like sidewalls I3 to flex outwards momentarily, while the Vends of the studs I4 snap across the bottom face of the top wall 2|' of the section II to a position as illustrated in Fig. 9.

In Figs. 10 and 11 a modified form of case embodying this invention has been disclosed. In this form 'of case, the compartment I8 for the mascara brush I9'is formed by a. mirror, schematically indicated by the dot and dash lines 45. This mirror is supported at each of its sides between vertically spaced horizontal strip portions 46 formed on the inner faces of the ange-like y The spaces betweenV the strip portions 46 are open-to the front end of the case so that the strip portions 46 may be easily molded While I have illustrated and described the preferred embodiments of my invention, it is to be understood that I do not limit myself to the precise constructions herein disclosed and the right is reserved to all changes and modiiications coming within the scope of the invention as defined in the appended claims.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by United States Letters Patent is:

1. A case, comprising a molded case base sec tion having a base wall and ange-like side walls having an opposed pair of studs on their inner facesga-molded case top section for fitting between Vsaidside walls and having a top wall, end

A` case, comprising a moldedcase base secn tion having a base wall and flange-like side walls having an opposed pair of studs on their inner faces, a molded case top section for fitting he tween said side walls and having a top wall, end Walls and side walls and openings extended downwards from said' top wall and into'said side walls for receivingv said studs, and said studs having beveled ends for slightly flexing said flange-like side walls when said studs are engaged into said openings so that the tips of saidl studs engage against the ybottom face of said top wall for hold ing the case sections pivotally together, said flange-like sidewalls having notches formed in the top corners of the front end, and keeper projections Lfrom said case top section cooperative with said'enotches for releasably holding said case sections closed, said case top section being provided with a topfiange opposed to a projection on theV bottom of said case base section, said top flange being provided with the projections cooperative with said notches.

A case, comprising a molded case base section having a base wall', Aflange-like side walls havingY an opposed pair ofv studs on their inner faces,v a back wall, anda horizontal partition extending'forwards frornwsaidr back wall Yand between said side Walls forming a compartment open towards the frontend of the case section, a molded Case top section for fitting closely be tween said flange-like side walls and having a top wall, end walls and side walls and openings ex= tended downwards from said top wall and into said side walls for receiving said studs, and said studs having beveled ends with the bevel yfaces directed towards the front of said case for slightly flexing said flange-like side walls when said studs are engaged into said openings so that the tips of said studs engage against the bottom face of said top wall for holding the case sections pivotally together.

A case, comprising a molded case base section having a base wall, flange-like side walls having an opposed pair of studs on their inner faces, a back wall, and a horizontal partition extending forwards from said back wall and between said side walls forming a compartment open towards the front end of the case section, a molded case top section for fitting closely between said dangelike side walls and Yhaving a top wall, end walls and side walls and openings extended downwards from said top wall and into said side walls for receiving said studs, and said studs having beveled ends with the bevel faces directed towards the front of said case for slightly flexing said flange-like side walls when said studs are engaged into said openings so that the tips of said studs engage against the bottom face of said top Wall for holding the case sections pivotally to=1 gether, the front ends of said flange-like side walls having notches, and projections complementary to said notches on the front end of said case top section for holding said case releasably closed` 8. A case, comprising a molded case base section having a base wall, flange-like side walls having an opposed pair of studs on their inner faces, a back wall, and a horizontal partition extending forwards from said back wall and between said side walls forming a compartment open towards the front end of the case section,

A case, comprising a molded case base section having a base wall, flange-like side walls having an opposed pairof studs on their inner faces, a back wall, and a` horizontal partition extending forwards from said back wall and between said side wallsfcrming a compartment open towards the front end of the case section, a molded case top section for tting closely between said flange-like side walls and having a top wall, end walls and side walls and openings extended downwards from said top wallr and into said side walls for receiving said studs, and said studs having beveled ends with the bevel faces directed towards the front of said case for. slightly flexing said 'flange-like side walls when said studs. are engaged into said 'openings so that the tips of said studs engage against the bottom face of said top wall for holding the case sections pivotally together, the front ends of said flange-like side walls having notches, and projections complementary to said notches on the front end of said case top section for holding said case releasaloly closed, said notches having faces directed frontwards of the case, certain of said faces being undercut.

A case, comprising a molded case base section having a base wall, flange-like side walls having an opposed pair of studs on their inner faces, a back wall, and a horizontal partition extending forwards from said back wall and between said side walls forming a compartment open towards the front end of the case section, a molded case top section for fitting closely between said fiange-like side walls and having a top wall, end walls and side walls and openings extended downwards from said top wall and into said side walls for receiving said studs, and said studs having beveled ends with the bevel faces directed towards the front of said case for slightly flexing said flange-like side walls when said studs are engaged into said openings so that the tips of said studs engage against the bottom face of said top wall for holding the case sections pivotally together, the front ends of said iiange-lilre side walls having notches, and projections complementary t-o s-aid notches on the front end of said case top section for holding said case releasably closed, said notches having faces directed irontwards of the case, certain of said faces being undercut, said projections having faces directed upwards and downwards and opposed to the faces of said notches. l.

A case, comprising a molded case base section having a base wall and flange-like side walls having an opposed pair of studs on their inner i faces, a molded case top section for fitting between said side walls and having a top wall, end walls and side walls and openings extended downwards from said top wall and into said side walls for receiving sad studs, and said studs having 'beveled ends for slightly iiexing said fiange-like side walls when said studs are engaged into said openings so that the tips of said studs engage against the bottom face of said top wail for holding the case sections pivotally together, and said flange-like side wallsbeingprovided with strip portions on their inner faces for supporting a mirror in a horizontal position to form a compartment open towards the front end of the case.

A case, comprising a molded case base section having a base wall and flange-like side walls having an opposed pair of studs on their inner faces, a molded case top section for fitting between said side walls and having a top wall, end walls and side walls and openings extended downwards from said top wall and into said side walls for receiving said studs, and said studs having beveled ends for slightly iiexing said flange-like side wall when said studs are engaged into said openings so that the tips of said studs engage against the bottom face of said top wall for holding the case sections pivotally together, and said flange-like side walls being provided with strip portions on their inner faces for supporting a mirror in a horizontal position to form a compartment open towards the front end of the case, each flange-like side wall being provided with a pair of horizontal strip portions vertically spaced of each other.

A case, comprising a molded case base section having a base wall and flange-'like side walls having an opposed pair `of studs on their inner faces, a molded case top section for tting between said side walls and having a top wall, end walls and side walls and openings extended downwards from said top wall and into said side walls for receiving said studs, and said studs having beveled ends for slightly flexing said ange-like side walls when said studs are engaged into said openings so that the tips of said studs engage against the bottom face of said top wall for holding the case sections pivotally together, and said iiange-like side walls being provided with strip portions on their inner faces for supporting a mirror in a horizontal position to form a cornpartment open towards the front end of the case, each iiange-like side wall being provided with a pair of horizontal strip portions vertically spaced of each other, and the space between said strip portions being open towards the front of'said case.
