Description

Patented Sept. 4, 1951 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE 2 Claims. 1
This invention relates to a dispensing fixture, and more particularly to a paper roll holder and dispenser.
The object of this invention is to provide a fixture in which a paper roll may be quickly and readily inserted or removed.
Another object of the invention is to provide a paper roll holder and dispenser which is extremely simple and inexpensive to manufacture.
Other objects and advantage will be apparent during the course of the following description.
In the accompanying drawings forming a part of this application, and in which like numerals are employed to designate like parts throughout the same:
Figure 1 is a sectional View taken on the line l-I of Figure 2;
Figure 2 is a bottom plan View of the dispensing fixture according to the present invention;
Figure 3 is an end elevational view of the dispenser;
Figure 4 is a ectional view taken on the line 4-4 of Figure 1;
Figure 5 is a sectional view taken on the line 5--5 of Figure 4;
Figure 6 is a sectional view taken on the line 6-6 of Figure 1.
Referring in detail to the drawings, the fixture is fabricated of suitable material and comprises a base I provided with a plurality of spaced openings I I for receiving securing elements, such as screws or nails, whereby the base In maybe secured to a wall or other support.
The base In is provided with a pair of recesses l2, and each recess I2 includes a wide, tapering mouth I3 which terminates in a transverse inclined cutout I4. A pair of rocker arms I each have one end positioned in the recesses l2 and a pair of pins I6 pivotally connect the rocker arms I5 to the base M, the mouth being shaped to permit the rocker arms l5 to pivot therein. The pair of rocker arms I5 each have their lower ends bent to define transverse hooks I6 which project into opposite ends of the core 8 of the roll of paper 9 (broken lines, Figures 1 and 3), to rotatably hold the roll of paper.
The rocker arms I5 are urged toward each other by a pair of steel springs I'I. One of the springs I! is arranged in each of the recesses I2 and each pring I! has one end snugly seated in the narrow end of the cutout I4. The other end of each of the springs 11 is bent and is snugly seated in a bore I8 which extends into the rocker arms I5 for a portion of its length. The rocker arms I5 are each cut away, as at I9, so that the spring I! will not interfere with the pivotal movement of the arms I 5.
In use, the base I0 is secured to a wall or the like by securing elements which project through the openings II. Then the arms l5 are moved or pivoted away from each other whereby a roll of paper 9, such as toilet paper, is positioned between the arms I 5 and rotatably supported by the hooks I6. Upon release of the arms I5, the springs I! urge the arms l5 toward each other so that the roll of paper will be rotatably supported thereby.
A many embodiments may be made of this inventive concept, and as many modifications may be made in the embodiment hereinbefore shown and described, it is to be understood that all matter herein is to be interpreted merely as illustrative and not in a limiting sense.
I claim:
1. A paper roll holder comprising a base provided with a plurality of spaced openings for receiving therein securing elements, there being a pair of recesses arranged in said base, each of said recesses including a wide tapering mouth, said mouth terminating in a transverse inclined cutout, a pair of rocker arms each having one end position in the mouth of said recess, a pin pivotally connecting each of said rocker arms to said base, the other end of each of said rocker arm being shaped to define a transverse hook for insertion in the end of a roll of paper, a pair of springs for urging said rocker arms toward each other, there being a bore in each of said rocker arms, each of said springs having one end seated in the inclined cutout in said base and its other end seated in the bore in said rocker arm.
2. A paper roll holder comprising a base adapted to be connected to a supporting body, there being recesse arranged in said base, each of said recesses including a wide tapering mouth, said mouth terminating in a transverse inclined cutout, a pair of rocker arms each having one end positioned in the mouth of said recess, said rocker arms being pivotally connected. to said base, the other end of each of said rocker arms being shaped to define a hook for insertion in the end of a roll of paper, a pair of springs for urging said rocker arms toward each other, there being a bore in each of said rocker arms, each of said springs having one end seated in the inclined cutout in said base and its other end seated in the bore in said rocker arm.
