eZ'eIgJeZZ ATTORNEYS Patented Feb. 5, 1952 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE SUCTION NOZZLE WITH BRUSH AND WIPER Bettie A. Udell, La Junta, Colo.
Application August 19, 1949, Serial No. 111,178
1 Claim. (Cl. lli- 367) This invention relates to brushes.
An object of this invention is to'provide a brush which is designed orcleaning the interior of footwear, and also for cleaning and polishing the exterior thereof.
Another object of this invention is to provide a brush which is formed of a hollow body ovoidal in plan and having openings so that a suction means may be coupled thereto for removing dirt or the like from the interior of the footwear.
A further object of this invention is to provide a. brush which has sheeps wool secured about a hollow body, with bristles projecting from the wool in a horizontal plane so that dirt or loose particles may be readily loosened and removed from the interior or exterior of footwear.
With the above and other objects in view, my invention consists in the arrangement, combination and details of construction disclosed in the drawing and specification, and then more particularly pointed out in the appended claim.
In the drawing,
Figure 1 is a plan View, partly in section, taken on the line I-I of Figure 2 of a brush constructed according to an embodiment of this invention,
Figure 2 is a sectional view taken on the lin 2-2 of Figure 1,
Figure 3 is a sectional view taken on the line 3-3 of Figure 1.
Referring to the drawing, the numeral I designates 'generally a hollow body which is formed of a bottom Wall II having openings I3 therethrough, and a transversely arcuate top Wall I2. The configuration of the body or housing I0 is substantially ovoidal in plan, as shown in Figure 1.
A wool covering I4 is secured over the housing I0 and includes the leather I5, with the wool I6 secured thereto. The leather I5 where it extends over the bottom wall II is formed with openings I7 registering with the openings I3 so that when the housing or body I0 is connected with a vacuum cleaner, dirt or loose particles may be drawn through the openings 'I3 and I1.
The body or housing I 0 includes a nipple I8 at the rear thereof, with which a tubular handle or connecting member I9 is secured. The device may be used by grasping the tubular handle I9 and extending the same into the interior of a of a shoe or overshoe so that the entire interior of the shoe or overshoe may be thoroughly cleaned. If desired the brush structure may be connected by tubular handle I9 to the suction end of a vacuum cleaner in order to draw out the loose particles within the shoe or overshoe.
I do not mean to coni-ine myself to the exact details of construction herein disclosed, but claim all variations falling within the purview of the appended claim.
What I claim is:
A brush structure for cleaning the interior of a shoe or the like comprised of a hollow ovoidal body of rigid material having an apertured flat bottom wall corresponding in shape to the in terior of a shoe, a tubular handle and connector for suction extending obliquely from the rear of said body and communicating with the interior thereof, a leather covering for said body having apertures therein aligned with the apertures in said bottom wall, a sheeps wool outer covering secured to said leather covering, and a plurality of bristles extending through said sheeps wool covering and secured to said leather covering, said bristles forming a radial row extending about the front of said body.
