to a set of prefabricated complementary garment parts or sections, pre-cut to pattern and ready to be sewn together, and having all sundries and items included and designated for the completion of a finished garment.

Various attempts have been made in the past to obviate the diiiiculties of sewing at home, so as to produce a practical garment which is correctly patterned and economically cut and properly fashioned. The average home sewer uses a dummy or figure on which the proposed garment is draped, spending thereby considerable time in experimentation and guess work, resulting as a rule in a great waste of material. Such garments produced by so called home dress making lack such advantages as would be obtained by expert specialists in the styling and pattern making fields, resulting in garments which have a home made look. I

I It has been suggested, in order to overcome these disadvantages, that an illustrated pattern accompany the fabric, but this left the method of fabricating or cutting the fabric and completing the garment to persons who lack suflicient experience in cutting the indicated parts and properly joining them.

i It has also been suggested that the fabric be marked or printed, indicating the pattern thereon. Thismethod however left much to error since A" deviation would be sufiicient to cause inaccuracy of fit. The average grading of sizes requires but A to additional to be added to the edge.

'- It is therefore an object of my invention to pro vide a set of complementary pre-cut garment pieces which will obviate the disadvantages noted above, and to enable the average home-sewer to have the means of completing the garmentin a professional manner having all the necessary embroideries, tuckings, buttons and other sundries made part of the prefabricated garment; a Itis hence a further object of the present invention to furnish to the home sewer a set of pre- 1 Claim.. (Cl. 2-243) the sewer in such a way that it would be hard to mistake how the parts are to be stitched together. The yarious pre-cut parts may be attractively packaged together in a box on which may be printed a picture of the finished garment so asto help the sewer in completing the garment.

Yet another object of this invention is to provide a highly improved set of pre-cut garment cloth parts, embodying the invention, which shall be relatively inexpensive to manufacture and which shall yet be practical and efficient to a high degree. c

Other objects of this invention will in part be obvious and in part hereinafter pointed out.

The invention accordingly consists in the features of construction, combinations of elements, and arrangement of parts, which will be exemplifled in the construction hereinafter described, and of which the scope of invention will be indicated in the following claim. I v

I Referring now in detail to the drawing, l0 designates, a completed garment stitched together from the set of ,pre-cut component cloth parts shown in Fig. 3 and embodying the invention. The garment I0 is merely shown for the purpose of illustration, it being understood that the in--" vention' may be applied to any suitable garment. The garment. Ill is a bolero and is but one of many garments which may be made by pre-cut cloth parts embodying the invention. I 1

The garment It comprises a pair of symmetrical bolero back and sleeve sections B, B, a pair of symmetrical bolero sleeve front sections A, A, a pair of symmetrical front facing parts D, D','a back neck facing part E, a pair of symmetrical lower back facing parts F, F, and a pair of symmetrical sleeve facing parts G, G, and monogram or insignia already embroidered on part of bolero.

The sections 5, B are substantially similar and symmetrically disposed. Said sections B, B comprise edges I i, I l respectively, which are coextensive and are to be stitched together. Extending from the edges H, H are similar rectangular projections 52, 22'. These extensions I 2, l2 may be made by punching them through with a die, or in any other suitable manner. The extensions are similar in shape so that the person who sews; the various parts or sections shown in Fig. 3 to form the garment It will know that the edges H, H are to be stitched together. The person will know it by matching up the similar rectangular extensions [2, E2 on these two edges.

The bolero sleeve front. parts A, A are substantially similar andsymmetrically disposed with respect'to one another. Said partsA, A" are formed with corresponding top sleeve edges 2!), respectively. The edge 20 of part A is to be stitched to the edge i:- of: part B. For this pill-'1 pose the parts B and A are formed with similar extensions 2!, 2i extending from said edges.

The extensions 21-, 2-1 are shown as being semicircular in shape. They may likewise 'bepunch-ed out with a die before cutting the remainder of the edges 20, M, with theusual cloth cutting knife or machine. The user will know that the edge I4 is to be stitched to the edge 28 by matching up the similar extensions or tabs 2!, 21'. The edge 28' of part A is to be stitched to the edge M. of part B", the home sewer'will know that these two.v edges are to be stitched together. by reason of tab extensions 22:, 22'" extending from the edges 2-0" and M" respectively. These tab extensions 22, 292 are in the. shaped a double. semi-circle. Thesextabs may likewise be punched out with a die before cutting the edges M The bolero:v sleeve frontparts A. The front: facing parts. U, D" are: likewise simi lar and. symmetrically disposed one with respect to: the other. They are formed: with: corresponding outer edges 28, 28'. The edge 28 of part: D corresponds to. the. edgev 2B of part. A, and is to be stitched thereto. Extending from said edges 23 and are similar tabs 29, 29' which may be punched out with a die. These tabs are shown to be triple triangles for the purpose of illustration. Extending from the edges 28, 23' are corresponding neck line edges 30, 30. The neck line 30 of part D is to be stitched to the neck line 21 of part A. Extending from. said edges 36, 21 are tabs 3|, M. respectively to indicate that said edges 30 and 2'! are to be stitched together. The tabs 3|, 3! are similar and shown in the form. of a trefoil.

The edges 30" and 2'! are likewise to be stitched together; Extending from said edges are tabs 32,v 32', similar in shape, to indicate that said edges are to be stitched together. The tabs 32, 32- may be in the shape of turrets with three towers. Extending from edges 3t, 30 are upper end or rear edges 33, 33. Extending from said edges 33, 33' are rear edges 3 1, 34. The edges 34, 34' are; not stitched to: anything and have no tabs. Interconnecting the edges. 28, 3'4 and 28 34 are edges 3.5, 3 5 respectively;

The edges tit and of parts: E and A are stitched together. Extending fromsaid edges are. similar tabs 35, 3%" here shown in the shape of a triangle. These similar tabs indicate that edges i: ii" and 2t areto be matched up and stitched together.

The edges i i?" and 2d" of parts 13' and A" are; to he stitched together. Extending from said edgesi aretabs 3'5, 317i". These tabs are similar and are. herev shown for the purpose of illustration as double triangles, to indicate to the user that the edges It" and 24* are to: be matchedup and stitched together.

The edge 35, of part D is to be stitched to the lower end of edge 24'- of part A. Said edge 35' has: a tab extension. 38., and the edge 24 has ad.- jacent its lower end a tab -38 similar to. tab. 38., to. indicate that the edge 35 is to be stitched to the lower end of edge 24'. The tabs 38,, 38 are so. positioned as to indicate the exact place where the. edge 35 is, to. be stitched- In other words, institching, the. user matches up the 172135.38, 3.8" so, that they register. In fact all. the tab extene sions of all the parts are so placed that said tabsmust register when. the matching parts are in exact. position coextensively for stitching, so as. to avoid any inaccuracy or wrong alignment or registration of. edges to be stitched together.

Edge 35. is to be stitched to the lower end. of: edge 2.4.. To this end. there isv a tab. extension. 39; on the lower end of edge 2 and a corresponding 01:. similar tab- 39 on. the edge 35.. The lower back facing parts F and F are formed with upper edges 50, 50'. Extending from the inner ends of the edges 50, 50" are edges 5| Extending from the edges 51,51 are, lower edges 52, 52' and interconnecting the edges 50, 52 and 50, 52' are edges 53, 53. The edges 50, 50' are not stitched to anything and have no tab extensions. 5 I

The edges 5|, 5| are to be stitched together and are formed with tab extensions 54', 54 which 4.

are similar and are shown to be dove-tailed shape. The edge 52 of part F is to be stitched to edge H of part B. Extending from said edges are shallow elongated rectangular tabs 56, "56' to indicate that these two edges are to be stitched together. The edge 53 is to be stitched to the lower end of edge 16. Extending from the edge 53 is a tab 51 and extending from the lower end of edge I6 is a similar tab 51' to indicate that home sewer that said edges 52' and ill are'to be stitched together. The edge 53' is to Tl be stitched to the lower end of edge l6. Extending from edge 53' is a tab 59 and extending from the lower end of edge 16' is a similar tab 59'. The tabs 59, 59' are matched up and registered to indicate to what part of edge l6 edge 53' is to be stitched. h

The sleeve facing parts G, G have corresponding edges 60 and 6B. Extending from the outer ends of edge 60 are end edges 6| formed with similar extending tabs 62 to indicate that said.

Interconnecting the edges 6| of part G is an edge 63 par allel to the edge 60. Part of edge 63 is toibe stitched to edge 23 of part A and part of said edge 63 is to;be stitched to edge I5 of partf B. Extending from one part of edge 63 is a tab 64 and extending from edge 23 is a similar tab 6.4.

The tabs 64, 64? are matched up and registered to indicate what part of edge 63 is to be stitched to edge 23.

Extending from another part of edge 63 is a tab 65 and extending from edge [5 is a tab 65'. The tabs 65, 65' are matched up to indicate what part of edge 63 is to be stitched to edge IS. The tabs 64, 64 may be in the shape of 45 right triangles. The tabs 65, 65' may be in the shape of double towered turrets.

The part G is similar and symmetrically disposed to the part G. Its edge 60' is not stitched to any other part and has no tab extensions. Extending from the ends of edge 60' are edges 66 formed with similar tab extensions 61 which are matched up, indicating that the edges 66- are to be stitched together. The edges 66 are interconnected by an 'edge68paral1e1 to the edge 60" and the edge 68 is stitched partly to the edge" The tabs 69. 69 are registered to bring edge- 23 into registration with part of edge 68 and saidedges .are stitched together. The placement of the tabs 69, 69 insures the correct positioning of edge 23 with respect to edge 68.

The tabs 10,10 may be registered ormatched up to register edge l5 with apart of edge 68 and said edges are stitched together.

It will be noted that -.al1S the tabs maybe *punchedout with a die and that the tabs are all' so placed that edges to be stitched may be matched up correctly. In other words, the tab on one edge is registered with the tab on the corresponding edge to be stitched to the first edge, to make sure that the two edges to be stitched together are aligned in coextensive relationship. With such construction the user is greatl aided and is prevented from stitching edges together in reverse direction. For this reason the tabs are preferably not placed at the middle of any longitudinal edge to prevent matching up edges in relationship opposite to correct relationship. It is understood, however, that the patterns allow margins of to at all seam edges for seaming operation.

It will also be understood that the indicating tabs may either extend from the edges to be seamed or may be cut therefrom. Preferably, the tabs are stamped out before the usual cutting operation.

While certain symbols or shaped tabs are used, it will be understood that any suitable shaped tabs or notches may be used. Similar tabs are used only on edges to be seamed together and are not otherwise repeated.

It will be understood that all the pre-cut parts may be packed in a suitable box and the cover of the box may be printed with a picture showing the completed garment. Also, the box: may have a window in it through which the fabric of the parts may be seen. The cover may also be printed with suitable instructions, if desired.

Of course, the tabs may be cut in any suitable manner as by shears or cutting machines if desired. If desired numerical symbols may be used instead of tabs or instead of geometrical.

Although the parts A, A; B, B; D, D; E; F, F; and G, G; are pre-cut cloth parts, it will be understood that these parts may be in the form of paper patterns which are to be placed on a piece of cloth which is to be cut, so that the cut cloth parts will have the tab extensions to facilitate matching up correctly edges to be seamed together.

It will thus be seen that there is provided a device in which the several objects of this invention are achieved and which is well adapted to meet the conditions of practical use.

As various possible embodiments might be made of the above invention, and as various changes might be made in the embodiment above set forth, it is to be understood that all matter herein set forth or shown in the accompanying drawings is to be interpreted as illustrative and not in a limiting sense.
