1 Claim.

The various types of labels and label protectors now in use are so constructed as to render their functional efficiency unsatisfactory; Among such disqualifying detriments, as a result of their construction they are limited in application and fail to protect an object in event of becoming detached from the object. due to no provision being made for the forwarding address or other notation to be made under the label on the object and further that the label itself is exposed to the action of liquids, which may deface it, or cause it to become detached, in which event it is usually impossible to identify the addressee on this account.

The object of my invention is to overcome these detriments by providing a label and label protector in the form of a flat flexible integral folded sheet of paper, or other suitable material, composed of two leaves, coated with an adhesive substance on their sides coming in contact with the object being labeled.

It is the further object of my invention to provide a sealed pocket that will protect any notation, from rough handling or liquids, that may be transmitted to an object through the medium of a carbon coated label, or otherwise.

It is the further object of my invention to eliminate the necessity of using individual parts in labeling articles and in protecting the label.

It is the further object of my invention to eliminate the messy smear associated with pasting labels composed of individual parts.

It is the further object of my invention to provide a label and label protector that can be attached to articles of merchandise in a single operation.

This invention relates to labels and label protectors and it cr'tsists in the novel features hereinafter described and claimed, and I declare the following to be a full, clear, concise and exact description to enable anyone skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being made to the accompanying drawings in which like reference characters refer to like parts throughout the specification.

The label and protector will be understood by reference to the drawings in which Figure 1 is a rear view of leaf A and a front view of leaf B.

Figure 2 is a rear view of leaf B and a front view of leaf A.

Figure 3 is a rear view of the label and protector folded and with leaf B turned back showin the uncoated area of leaf A.

Figure 4 is a front view of the label and protector folded and with leaf A turned back.

Referring more particularly to the drawings the label and label protector is constructed of a flat flexible integral folded sheet of paper, or other suitable material, folded at i forming leaves A and B.

Transparent area 2 of leaf A being contained within an adhesive coated margin 3 on side A-l. Side A-5 of leaf A is uncoated.

Leaf B is opaque and is coated on side 13-! with an adhesive substance throughout margin 1 entirely surrounding the carbon coated area 8. Side 3-9 is uncoated. Leaf B is uniformly narrower transversely throughout than leaf A. Leaf B is shorter longitudinally measured from the folding line than leaf A.

A convenient method of applying the label and label protector is for the user to stick leaf B to the object being labeled by means of the adhesive coated margin 1. The label is further secured and the notation on the object protected by means of leaf A being impressed entirely over and stuck to leaf B and object by means of the adhesive coated margin 3 on side A-l.

In leaf B may be arranged a line of perforations It to permit leaf A to be attached to the object directly for additional security, but these perforations may be omitted without destroying the function of the adhesive seal at this edge.

Having described what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is as follows:

As a new articleof manufacture, a combination label and label protector, comprising an integral body, constructed of a flexible element, adapted to folding into two sheets of dissimilar size; the smaller of the two sheets having its obverse surface uncoated and its reverse surface include a duplicating substance entirely bounded with an adhesive margin; the larger sheet having a transparent portion and an adhesive coated margin bounding said transparent portion, said adhesive coated margin adapted to contact and overlap said smaller sheet.
