WEARING APPAREL Filed April 2, 1952 INVENTORS FA-NNYE L.KINGSTON BY DELLA P. DEAN ATTORNEY Patented Dot. 5, 1954 OFFICE WEARING APPAREL Fannye L. Kingston and Della P. Dean, Wickenburg, Ariz.
2 Claims.
This invention relates to wearing apparel and more particularly to a blouse having a western motif and the appearance of which may be altered to suit the tastes of the wearer or as the occasion demands.
Heretofore numerous articles of wearing apparel having replaceable parts such as collars, cuffs or sleeves have been proposed but these have not resulted in garments in which the entire color scheme and appearance of the garment could be changed.
It is therefore an object of the invention to provide an article of wearing apparel in which by a simple manipulative operation of removing and replacing one part of the garment such as a yoke the entire appearance and color scheme thereof may be changed and in which the tailored appearance and fit of the garment remains unchanged.
A further object of the invention is the provision of an article of apparel in which a bodice of one color or style may be provided and in which several different yokes of different colors and style attached to the bodice by removable fasteners may be supplied in order to permit changing the appearance and color scheme at will.
A further object of the invention is the provision of an article of wearing apparel in which several bodices, for instance one being sleeveless, another with short sleeves and a third with long sleeves may be provided and in which various yokes may be attached thereto by removable fasteners in order to change the appearance and color scheme thereof.
Further objects and advantages of the invention will be apparent from the following description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings, wherein:
Fig. 1 is a view in perspective showing an article of apparel such as a blouse constructed in accordance with this invention and showing the removable yoke which is utilized to change the color scheme and appearance of the garment;
Fig. 2, a view in perspective of a bodice which may be utilized as in Fig. 1 but being provided with short sleeves;
Fig. 3, a view similar to Fig. 2 but showing a sleeveless bodice; and
Fig, 4, a view in perspective showing a yoke which may be utilized with the bodices of Figs. 1,
2 and 3, this yoke being provided in various colors.
With continued reference to the drawing there is shown in Fig. 1 a garment such as a blouse constructed in accordance with this invention and this blouse may comprise a bodice Ill to which is permanently attached sleeves H having cuiis i2.
The bodice I0 may be provided with conventional pockets l3 and to this bodice there may be attached by snap fasteners or other suitable fastening means [4 a yoke l5 which may be provided in any desired style and in any desired color. The yoke it as shown particularly in Fig. 4 may be provided with a scalloped edge l6 and complementary fastening means l1 may be provided in order to facilitate removably securing the same to the bodice It]. The yoke 15 may be provided with a collar [8 of any desired style and obviously any desired number of yokes 15 may be provided to suit the needs and requirements of the wearer.
It is contemplated that one bodice Iii of any desired basic color will be provided and that the wearer may also obtain numerous yokes [5 of different colors and if desired of different styles and out, these yokes to be interchangeably utilized with the bodice H! to change the effect of the entire ensemble.
It is also contemplated by this invention that other bodices such as l9 shown in Fig. 2 may be provided and it will be noted that with this bodice short sleeves 2B are permanently secured thereto and that fastening means such as snaps 2| are provided on the bodice to facilitate attachment of a suitable yoke I 5.
Likewise a bodice 22 may be provided as shown in Fig. 3 and which bodice is sleeveless there being also snap fasteners or the like 23 provided to facilitate attachment of a desired yoke l5 thereto.
The bodices Ill, [9 and 22 will be tailored to fit the wearer as will also the yokes I5 which may be obtained to cooperate therewith and obviously the substitution of one yoke I 5 for another will in no way change the general style or fit but will only change the color or if desired certain minor changes in style may be provided in order to change the general appearance of the outfit. Desirably the neck line of the bodices Hi, I!) and 22 is relatively deep and may be provided with substantially parallel side portions and V-shaped front and rear portions as illustrated in Figs. 2 and 3 of the drawing. Thus, a maximum of freecom is provided around the neck of the wearer, beneath the yoke portion of the garment.
It will thus be seen that by this invention there has been provided an article of wearing apparel in which if desired one basic part may be purchased and several replaceable yokes may also be purchased in order to be utilized when desired to change the color or appearance of the garment and by this means a rather extensive wardrobe of this nature may be provided at a relatively small cost.
It will be obvious to those skilled in the art u that various changes may be made in the invention without departing from the spirit and scope thereof and therefore the invention is not limited by that which is shown in the drawings and described in the specification but only as indicated in the appended claims.
What is claimed is:
1. An article of apparel comprising a bodice, tailored to fit the body of the wearer, said bodice having relatively narrow shoulder strap portions and a deep neck line having substantially parallel side portions and a centrally located V-portion in front and back a yoke of contrasting color and including a collar and cooperating snap means on said yoke and bodice, the cooperating fastening means on said bodice and yoke being located so as to follow the pattern of said neck line, whereby said yoke may be detachably secured to said bodice or removed therefrom to permit attachment of a yoke of difierent style or color.
2. An article of apparel comprising a bodice tailored to fit the 'body of the wearer, said bodice having relatively narrow shoulder strap portions and a deep neck line having substantially parallel side portions and a centrally located V-portion in front and back a yoke of contrasting color and including a collar and cooperating fastening means on said yoke and bodice the cooperating fastening means on said bodice and yoke being located so as to follow the pattern of said neck line, whereby said yoke may be detachably secured to said bodice or removed therefrom to permit attachment of a yoke of different style or color.
