Dec. 6, 1955 Filed July 28, 1952 Bnventor ARTHUR U. SPEAR' attorney United States Patent GREETING FOLD DISPLAY Arthur U. Spear, St. Paul, Minn, assignor to iii-own a Bigelow, St. Paul, Minn., a corporation of Minnesota Application July 28, 1952, Serial No. 301,356
2 Claims. (Cl. 40124.1)
My invention relates to an improvement in a multiple page greeting fold display and particularly of a type which provides a number of sheets or pages for pictures or verse from a single died-out sheet.
It is an object of my invention to provide a greeting fold display which not only consists of a series of foldable sheets formed from a single sheet, but which will stand upright in an opened position to display indicia or picture material on the various sheets.
It is also an object of my invention to provide a greeting fold having a series of sheets which fold into a compact state, all of which are died out of a single sheet of material.
It is a further object to provide a greeting fold which, when constructed according to my invention from a single sheet, provides a series of hinged pages in booklet form.
The invention will appear more clearly from the following detailed description when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, showing by way of example a preferred embodiment of the inventive idea.
In the drawings forming part of the application:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of my greeting fold display in a partially opened position.
Figure 2 is a perspective view of my device in an opened position for display.
Figure 3 is a plan view of my device in a fiat died-out form.
My greeting fold display A is composed of the single sheet which has formed thereon the centrally positioned longitudinal score line 11, and the transverse score lines 12, 13, and 14, thereby forming the sections or pages indicated as 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, and 22. Formed centrally of the sheet 10 on the longitudinal score line 11 and extending from score line 12 to score line 14, I provide the narrow slit or slot 23. The transverse score line 13 is formed centrally of the sheet 10, thereby bisecting the same and said longitudinal line 11.
The various sections such as 15, 16, etc. may have formed thereon pictures or indicia indicated, for example, by the outline marks 24. The greeting fold display A is formed from the sheet 10 by folding the sheet 10 on the score line 11, thereby placing the sections 22, 21, 20, and 19 behind the sections 15, 16, 1'7, and 18. In this condition, the display A is then folded on the score lines 12, 13, and 14 to produce the fold illustrated in Figure l in a slightly opened condition.
To produce the display piece illustrated in Figure 2. whereby the piece will stand on a flat surface, the sec- 2,725,651 Patented Dec. 6, 1955 tions or pages 16 and 17 are pulled outwardly as are the pages 20 and 21 which is possible due to the slit 23. With the piece A in such a position, the various sheets or pages may all be viewed.
With my device I have provided an eight page greeting fold A from a single die-cut sheet such as 10, which not only folds into a flat compact state, but which may be set up to display each sheet or page as particularly illustrated in Figure 2.
My device A forms a greeting fold in a booklet form wherein the sheet section 22 may be used as page 1 of the booklet and sheet section 15 as page 2 thereof as the booklet is progressively opened. As the greeting fold booklet is further opened, sheet 16 provides page 3, sheet 17 becomes page 4 and sheet 18 is page 5. In addition, sheet 19 is page 6, sheet 20 is page 7, and sheet 21 follows as page 8.
The invention is not to be understood as restricted to the details set forth since these may be modified within the scope of the appended claims without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention.
Having thus described the invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
l. A multiple page display fold including a single sheet of material, a longitudinal scoreline formed centrally of said sheet and extending the full length thereof, transverse scorelines intersecting said longitudinal scoreline at right angles to form said sheet into equal size rectangular separable foldable sections, said sheet having a single slit formed on a portion of said longitudinal scoreline and spaced from the edges of said sheet, thereby separating the centermost of said sections, one of said transverse score lines bisecting said slit, said sheet being folded on said longitudinal scoreline and on said transverse scorelines to provide a separable multiple page fold, the centermost of said sections being separable at said slit to support the fold in an upright display position.
2. A multiple page display fold comprising a single sheet of material, a longitudinal score line formed centrally of said sheet and extending the full length thereof, a transverse score line formed centrally of said sheet and bisecting said sheet and said longitudinal score line, supplementary transverse score lines formed on said sheet bisecting the areas between said central transverse score line and the ends of said sheet, thereby forming said sheet into equal sized, rectangular, separable, foldable sections, said sheet having a single slit formed on said longitudinal score line and extending from one of said supplementary transverse score lines to the other, said sheet being folded on said longitudinal score line and on said transverse score lines to provide a separable, multiple page fold, the centermost of said sections being separable at said slit to support the fold in an upright display position.
