1 Claim. (Cl. 2-48) This invention relates to new and useful improvements and structural refinements in disposable aprons, and the principal object of the invention resides in the provision of an apron of the character herein described, which includes what may be called a more-or-less permanent waistband, and a replaceable apron sheet, together with means for quickly and easily attaching the sheet at the Waistband and removing the same therefrom when soiled.

Some of the advantages of the invention reside in its simplicity of construction, in its eflicient and convenient operation, and in its adaptability to economical manufacture.

These together with other objects and advantages which will become subsequently apparent resides in the details of construction and operation as more fully hereinafter described and claimed, reference being had to the accompanying drawings forming a part hereof, wherein like numerals refer to like parts throughout, and in which:

Figure 1 is a perspective view of the invention;

Figure 2 is a fragmentary plan view of the sheet used in the invention;

Figure 3 is a perspective view of roll of sheets;

Figure 4 is a fragmentary developed plan view of the waistband of the invention;

Figure 5 is a fragmentary perspective view illustrating the manner in which the sheet is attached to the waistband;

Figure 6 is a fragmentary perspective view of the sheet and waistband attached; and

Figure 7 is a sectional detail, on enlarged scale and taken substantially in the plane of the line 77 of Figure 6.

Referring now to the accompanying drawings in detail, the apron is designated generally by the reference character 10 and embodies in its construction a waistband 12 and a sheet of flexible material 14.

The sheet 14 is provided at one edge thereof with sets of spaced apertures 16 and the apertured portion of the Patented July 31, 1956 sheet is pleated as indicated at 18, so that the apertures in each set are in register.

The waistband 12 is longitudinally doubled upon itself so as to provide inner and outer layers 20, 22, one of these layers being provided with female snap fastener elements 24 while the second layer is provided with coacting male snap fastener elements 26.

When the sheet 14 is attached to the waistband 12 the apertnred portion of the sheet is disposed between the layers 20, 22 of the waistband, and the male fastener elements 26 are extended through the registering apertures 16 so that they may be engaged with the female fastener elements 24, whereby the sheet 14 is securely but removably sustained in position between the layers 20, 22 of the waistband.

The free ends of the waistband may be tied in a bow, as indicated at 28, at the back of the body and when the sheet 14 has become soiled, it may be readily separated from the waistband by simply disengaging the fastener elements 24, 26, so that a clean sheet may be installed.

The sheets 14 are preferably provided in a roll 30 as shown in Figure 3, the roll having transverse tear lines 32 so that the sheets may be easily and successively removed as desired.

From the foregoing, the construction and operation of the device will be readily understood and further explanation is believed to be unnecessary. However, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the invention to the exact construction shown and described, and accordingly all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted-to, falling within the scope of the appended claim.

What is claimed as new is as follows:

A disposable apron comprising a generally rectangular sheet of flexible material provided adjacent the top edge thereof with two sets of spaced horizontally aligned apertures, portions of said sheet being folded over whereby the apertuers in each set are in register, an elongated waistband attached to the top edge of said sheet, and fastener elements provided on said waistband and engaging the registered apertures, whereby to separably connect the sheet to the Waistband, said waistband being doubled longitudinally with complementary portions of said fastener elements positioned on the inner surface of each fold for extending through the registered apertures in the sheet for retaining the folds in position and toming vertically disposed pleats.
