UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
MAURICE M. MURRAY, OF OOULTERVILLE, CALIFORNIA, ASSIGNOR OF ONE- HALF TO ALEXANDER G. BLACK, OF SAME PLACE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters IPatent No. 277,598, dated May 15, 1883.
' Application filed July 25, 1882. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MAURICE IVIORIARTY MURRAY, of Goulterville, county of Mariposa, State of California, haveinvented an Improved Fountain and I do hereby declare-the following to be a full, clear, and exact description thereof.
My invention relates to an improved vessel for containing liquids and keeping them cool or warm, as may be desirable.
Myinvention consists in an outer vessel having a pivot adapted to revolve in a step of a base, and provided with interior divisions for various liquors, in combination with a removable cover, through which a series of funnels project, and carrying on their lower ends the stoppers of the interior vessels, whereby I am enabled to fill all the interior vessels and main vessel Without removing the cover.
Referring to the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of my device. Fig. 2'is a vertical section. Fig. 3 is a horizontal section.
Let A represent a stand or base provided with a central step, a. This base may be perforated upon its surface, or may be wholly cut out. The vessel Bis set upon the stand A, its pivot fitting the step, so that said vessel may freely rotate on said base.
0 is a cap fitting over the top of vessel B, and provided with a central funnel, o, the end of which projects down into the vessel.
D shows a faucet, the pipe of which communicates with the interior of the vessel, from which cool water may be drawn. Air may be admitted through faucet I.
Within vessel B are a number of smaller vessels, E, having short legs 0, resting upon the bottom of vessel B, thus leaving an underlying space, and on account of their smaller v diameters a circumsc'ribing space. The tops of these interior vessels are flared and receive bevelel stoppers F.
G are funnels extending from the outside through cap 0, and screwed into stoppers F. They are provided with air-tight covers f. The funnels c and G are all tight enough in lid 0 to remain with it when raised from the main vessel, and thefunnels G, by being screwed into the stoppers F, lift these latter from the interior vessels, so that when the cap 0 is taken off not only the exterior or main vessel is exposed, but also the interior vessels.
The interior vessels, near their bottoms, are provided with pipes H,extendingthrough the exterior vessel, B, and havin gs'top-cocks it upon their ends. Similar pipes, I, extend from their tops and have cocks 2'.
Around the top of the main vessel B is a ledge or gallery, J, supported in any suitable manner, as by a'bracket, K. Upon this ledge are aflixed cones 70, over which tumblers L are fitted and secured. In the ledge small basins Z are made, in which spoons are to remain. Upon the outside of the main vessel, lower down than the ledge, are fitted small vessels M, one upon each side, while upon the same level are others, N. The former are designed to contain sugar and the latter spices. Lower down other vessels, 0, are designed to contain matches. This circumsoribing body B may contain ice-water, and will keep the interior vessels and their liquids quite cool. I
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The vessel B and its contained vessel, E E, in combination with the main cover and a series of funnels, G, passing through both the main covers and the stoppers of the interior vessels, all constructed, arranged, andoperated 'as set forth.
In witness whereof I hereunto set my hand.
MA URIGE M. MURRAY.
