2 Claims. (Cl. 312-49) This invention relates to golf ball holders and is particularly adapted for holding golf balls at a convenient location to the player.

The primary object of the invention is to provide a golf ball holder mounted to a golf cart, preferably on the handle of the cart, storing the balls at a convenient location for the player to reach.

Another object of the invention is to provide a holder that will hold a number of balls wherein one ball at a time can be removed by the player.

A still further object of the invention is to provide a holder that can be easily stored out of the way while not in use.

These and other incidental objects will be apparent in the drawings, specification and claims.

Referring to the drawings:

Figure 1 is a side view of a golf cart, having my new and improved golf ball holder attached thereto and illustrating how the ball can be removed from the holder.

Figure 2 is an enlarged detail sectional fragmentary view of the holder.

Figure 3 is a side view of the holder, taken on line 3-3 of Figure 2.

Figure 4 is a plan sectional view of the holder, taken on line 4-4 of Figure 2, the balls removed and indicated in dotted position.

Figure 5 is a perspective view of the holder removed from the handle of the cart.

Figure 6 is a side view of the holder shown in storage position on the handle of the cart.

Referring more specifically to the drawings:

My new and improved golf ball holder consists of a tubular ball container 1, This container is adapted to be secured to the handle 2 of the golf cart 3. The lower end of the container is cut out at 4 and 5. These cut out portions are adapted to straddle the handle 2. The cut out 5 being cut slightly deeper than the cut out portion 4, permitting the container to lean over towards the cart as indicated in Figures 1 and 2.

Holes 6 are drilled through the lower end of the container and are adapted to receive the bolt 7, which passes through the hole 8 formed in the handle 2. A wing nut 9 is threaded to the bolt 7 and is adapted to be tightened up so as to hold the container solidly on the handle of the cart.

The container is cut out at 10. The object of this cut 2,780,508 Patented Feb. 5, 1957 out is to provide access to the golf balls contained within the container. The lower ball 11 can be removed through this cut out 10 as illustrated particularly in Fig ure 1. This will allow the balls 12 to lower to the position of the ball 11, ready to be taken out by the player when desired.

It will be noted that the position of my new and improved golf ball container is such that it is near the handle grip 13 of the handle 2, making it very handy for the player after releasing the handle grip 13 to reach over and secure the ball, as best illustrated in Figure 1.

When the player is not using the container for carrying balls, he can remove the same from the position shown on the handle, Figures 1 and 2, and slip the same down over the handle as illustrated in Figure 6, entering the bolt 7 through the holes 6 and 8 and tightening the wing nut 9 thereon, securing the container to the handle as illustrated.

My new and improved golf ball container is adapted to fit all models of golf carts, as all of these carts have operating handles of approximately the same dimensions.

What is claimed is:

1.. As a new article of manufacture, a golf ball container for mounting on the handle of a golf bag carrier, said container being of tubular construction and formed with a pair of cut outs in one end thereof within which said handle is adapted to engage with its axis extending at an abrupt angle to the axis of said container, said container also having a relatively large opening in the side thereof spaced from said one end whereby a lower ball may be removed from the container, and. a bolt extending diametrically through said cutouts on said container adjacent said one end for securing said container on the handle at an oblique angle to the length of said handle.

2. As a new article of manufacture, a golf ball container for mounting on the handle of a golf bag carrier, said container comprising an elongated tubular member open at each end, said member having a pair of diametrically disposed cutouts in one end thereof within which said handle is adapted to engage, one of said cut outs being deeper than the other out out whereby said member will be disposed at an oblique angle to the length of the handle, said member also having an opening in the side thereof adjacent said one end whereby a lower ball may be removed from said member, and means for detachably securing said member to said handle.
