Claims. (Cl. 259-108) The present invention refers to improvements in liquefying devices.
With the improvements that the invention provides to existing liquefying devices, there is obtained series of constructive improvements as well as better operation that will be set forth in the following paragraphs.
The main improvement consists in a support for the container, being an under improvement an arrangement of a nipple which is directly connected with the motor driving the knives. This element includes an apron or protector for the upper end of the base of the apparatus, in whose inner space is lodged the motor, the apron being so extended as to cover, with the said end of the base, an area ample enough to make possible to provide at that end openings for the ventilation of the motor, the said openings cooperating with openings provided at the lower end of the case, without there existing the least risk for overflow liquid damaging the motor.
Another object of the present improvements is to make the coupling of the motor more easy by using a bayonet joint, screw thread or any other such well known means.
The present invention has also for its object, as already mentioned, a better and larger urged ventilation for the motor with the use of the said means, i. e. the ample apron that prevents the dropping of liquid upon the motor.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a flexible shaft between the motor and the knives, so arranged that no deflexion of the shaft is possible.
It is also an object of these improvements and by the novel arrangement of the parts, to make possible to use isolating materials such as plastics, to prevent inductions of the electric current taking place.
Another object of the invention is to effect a mounting of the driving device and in general of all the liquefying apparatus, without the use of screws, as all the parts are borne by a mutual supporting action by own screw threads, bayonet joints that substitute the former, and other similar means.
Other objects and advantages of this invention will be evident in the following detailed description.
In order that the present invention may be readily understood and carried into effect in its fundamental idea, same will now be further described with reference to the accompanying drawings that are a part of this specification, and in the character of an illustrative but not limitative example.

Fig. 1 is an outer view, with partial sections, showing in elevation the glass or container of a liquefying device provided with the improvements of the present invention;
Fig. 2 is a partial view of an axial section of the base of the apparatus, showing in section the transmission device and the general arrangement thereof at the upper end of the base;
Fig. 3 shows, in a plan view, the said protecting apron;

In all the above figures the same reference numbers designate same or equivalent parts. j
With reference to the drawings and particularly to Fig. 4, the flexible shaft consists of an upper container 1 containing a rubber block 2 and having a collar 3 extended downwardly.
In the rubber block 2 is embedded and upwardly directed, and having at the upper end a neck 4 with inner screw thread and at the lower end a wide flange 5, a member 6 with which cooperates washer 7 that fixes protector 15, which is in turn secured by the passing through an axial hole in it, of the driving pin for the knives (not shown).
A joint provided by threading of nuts '9 secure the mentioned parts with part 10 of a shape similar to the former, and which is embedded with its flange within a rubber block contained in a cap 12 having its outer end perforated at 13, wherein is secured the shaft 23 of the motor 14 within housing 14a (Fig. 2).
The said apron or protector has, preferably, the shape shown in Figs. 2 and 3; is designated with the number 15 and comprises neck 16 on which is supported container 17 (Fig. l). The apron extends over perforations 19 for the ventilation of the motor, perforations which are provided at the upper end of the base of the apparatus, for the purposes already said. Its neck 20 is downwardly directed and threaded in nut 21 which, in turn, has a lower neck with inner screw thread for threading in it support 22 of part 14, said joint being able of substitution by a bayonet joint or any other suitable one.
With the solid arrangement comprising the flexible shaft which has no screws, as may be more clearly seen in Fig. 2, motor 14 turns pin 8 through the described transmission device more clearly seen in Fig. 4, and having the container 17 encased Within neck 16, the pin is inserted in the driving opening of knives and the operation of the liquefying device takes place in the manner which makes unnecessary further explanations.
Fig. 5 shows a plan of a preferred form for the base 24 of the machine, provided with legs 18 motor 14 being secured to said base 24 as indicated at 25 and openings 19a cooperating with openings 19 for a better ventilation of the motor.
It will be evident that the constructive details described and illustrated in the accompanying drawings may vary without thereby departing from the scope of the present invention which is better defined in the claims that follow this specification.
What is claimed, is:
1. In a liquefying device, a hollow base having vent openings in its top wall, a container support fixed on said top wall and formed with a neck depending into said base, an outstanding peripheral apron on said container support and spacedly overlying said base to permit the passage of air outwards from said vent openings, a drive motor located in said base and joined to the lower end of said neck with its drive shaft extending upwards into said neck, a generally vertically disposed flexible coupling rotatably supported in said neck with the lower coupling end connected to the motor drive shaft, and an upstanding stub shaft on the upper end of said flexible coupling and adapted for driving engagement with the blades of a container in said support.
2. A liquefying device according to claim 1, said flexible coupling comprising an upwardly opening lower shell fixed on the upper end of said drive shaft, a body of resilient material secured in said lower snell, a generally vertically disposed shank having its lower end embedded in said resilient body, an upwardly opening upper shell Q fixed on the upper end of said shank, a second body of resilient material secured in said upper shell, and an anchor member embedded in said second resilient body and connected to said stub shaft for rotating the latter.
3. A liquefying device according to claim I, wherein said motor drive shaft is threadedly secured to said lower shell, and said stub shaft is threadedly secured to said flexible coupling, to facilitate removal and replacement of said flexible coupling.
4. A liquefying device according to claim 2, said container support comprising an upstanding annular wall 4 extending sp-acedly about said stub shaft and adapted to receive the lower portion of a container.
5. A liquefying device according to claim 1, wherein said hollow base is formed with holes in lower region to permit the ingress of a ventilating medium passing outwards through said top wall vents.
