(Cl. 128-286) This invention relates to a combination breechcloth and container for infants, and such that may be used as a surgical appliance individually or collectively, and more particularly to a foldable and extend-able container, adapted for uses in connection with the collection and disposal of waste matter of solids and liquids including the combination thereof, such waste matter that is generally encountered with the hygienic needs of infants, incapable and hospitalized persons confined to bed by reason of illness or infirmity, also, for collecting and disposal of the contagious waste matter of persons or infants when active or confined to bed because of afiiiction of contagious and infectious disease, thereby preventing the contamination (by isolating and removing the defiled waste matter, and also, eliminating to a great extent the odors that may emanate therefrom and when exposed to free air.
Manifestly, an object of the invention is to provide a foldable and collapsible container, which is made out of suitable moisture-proof material, which is light in weight and soft in texture, which is provided with a suitable means adapted for attaching and for securing a firm and adequate adhesion to and around the portion of the body from which the waste matter may emanate and thereby preventing the sideward spread and flow of said waste matter, which otherwise is unavoidable and uncontrolla-ble.
A further object of the invention is to provide said foldable and collapsible container with a pair of transversely disposed ledges, extending upwardly and having a layer of suitable adhesive compound covering the surfaces outer and inner exposed thereof, which may be used for attaching and for holding said container in any suitable manner that may be practicable for securing same in place and position for collecting said waste matter therein, and also for preventing the spread of said waste matter upon the adjacent surfaces extending from the excrement discharge opening or aperture.
Another object of the invention is to provide said foldable and collapsible container with a suitable breechcloth, napkin or a diaper, said breechcloth having a suitable aperture disposed therein and adapted for retaining within and therearou-nd the open end of said container and for holding same in place and position, so that when in use, allowing said container to be held in proper position for collecting the waste matter therein, and for preventing the spread of said waste matter upon the surfaces extending from and adjacent to the discharge opening or aperture from which said waste matter may emanate.
A further object of the invention is to provide said foldable and collapsible container with folds for forming a compact package, said container being made out of suitable material that may be treated with and assimilate suitable medical compounds, such as cleansers, deodorants and antiseptics or solutions, which are germicidal and which when in use provide a soothing effect upon the skin of the user, and the exposed body portions subjected to the contact with said medically treated compounds.
The invention has for its objects to provide such means that are positive in operation, convenient in use, easily installed in position and easily disconnected therefrom, economical in manufacture, relatively simple, and of general superiority and serviceability.
The invention also provides novel details of construc- "ice tion and novel combinations and arrangements of parts, which will more fully appear in the course of the following description.
Reference is had to the accompanying drawings in which the similar reference characters denote the same parts.

Describing the invention more in detail, in its broader aspects, said invention comprises a container generally designated by numeral 2, which is tubular in structure and having the wall thereof provided with folds 4-, 6, 8 and a tube end 10, wherein the upper top fold 4 is provided with a pair of upwardly extending ledge sections 12 and 14' forming there-between the open section of said container. The outer surfaces of said extending ledge sections 12 and 14- are provided with a layer of suitable cement or adhesive 16.
Normally, said ledge sections 12 and 14 extend upwardly and parallelly to each other, thus providing a longitudinal open top end section 18 in said container 2, while the extended bottom tube end 10 in said container is closed.
The outwardly extending folded ends 20 are arranged in symmetry, as shown in FIGS. 1, 2 and 3, and thereby securing a neat and compact unit when folded into a package, as shown in FIGS. 4 and 5.
When said container 2 is used for hygienic purposes then the adhesive coated ledge end sections 12 and 14 are firmly attached to and around the opening or passage of the body from which and through which the waste matter may pass for collecting same within said container.
It may be noted, that when said container 2 is used for medicinal or post-surgical purposes, said container may, if so desired, be provided with one fold only and arranged for depositing therein a suitable quantity of sterilized cotton or gauze pads and allowing said adhesive coated ledge sections 12 and 14 to be slightly spread and applied on and around the discharge opening of the body from which the waste matter may be collected.
Also, said container 2 if so desired, may be provided with a circular adhesive pad or layer 22, so that the aperture, passage or an opening as result of a surgery may be enclosed when used for post-surgical drainage, and thereby directing such drainage into the opening 18 of said container 2, and that said container when used and removed, same may then be disposed of in the manner 3 most suitable in practice for eliminating odors and for preventing the spread of disease.
Further, said container 2 may be made out of suitable material that may be most desirable and practicable for conventional uses, said material may be paper, plastic or a composition thereof, preferably having suitable absorbing texture, so that the same may be chemically and medically treated, and thereby securing a bacteriologically free, sterile and a highly hygienic surgical appliance.
When said container 2 is used as a surgical and hygienic appliance, said material may be treated with chemicals such as thymol, eucalystol, methyl salicilate, boric acid, chlorothymol or chlorophyllin, which may be of any desired combination and proportion, and that the compound or the combination of said chemical ingredients to have at least 2.5% of alcohol by volume.
Since the chemicals are not entirely soluble in Water, such as thymol (CH -C H (OH)-C H the eucalystol 1-1 0), or methyl salicilate (C H O boric acid (H BO etc., therefore alcohol should be used for solubility, and after the solubility of the compounds is established, then the compound or solution is allowed to precipitate before applying same to said container 2 or the component part thereof and preferably the internal surface section thereof, which may be accomplished by way of spraying, or using such solution in an autoclave apparatus, operating same at low temperature and pressure.
Said container 2 may also be used in combination with a breechcloth or diaper member 24, which in an assembled form is provided in a folded form having a pair of layers 26 and 28 respectively, thus having one layer over the other, and which may be of square structure 30 as shown in FIG. 6, or triangular structure 32 as shown in FIG. 8 of the drawing.
The upper layers 26 or 26' of the square or triangular structures 30 and 32 respectively, are provided with an elongated aperture 34 or 34 as shown in FIG. 8, for allowing said ledge sections 12 and 14 of said container 2 to be secured thereon, which are folded outwardly as shown in FIGS. 6 and 7, also, having said adhesive pad 22 disposed below said ledges 12 and 14 extending over the outer surface of the upper layer 26, and thereby enclosing entirely the outer edges of said aperture 34 or 34, for preventing fluid leakage around the edges thereof and therethrough.
As shown in FIG. 7 said breechcloth or diaper 24 is folded rectangularly for providing said upper layer 26 and a lower layer section 28, allowing said folds 4, 6, 8 and 10 of said bottom tube end container 2 to rest therebetween, thus exposing said open top end section 18, so that when in use, the filling of said container 2 with the Waste matter may be accomplished without spreading or spilling of the contents so deposited, said container and the folds thereof will normally become extended and the lower layer section will support said container and its contents when in place and position, thereby preventing said waste matter from becoming accidentally discharged or spilled exteriorly therefrom.
When using said napkin or diaper 24' in folded position as shown in FIG. 8, the aperture 34 in said triangular upper section 26 is arranged for receiving and retaining said ledge sections '12 and 14 of said container 2, and thus supporting same in place and position for the purposes set forth herein and in the manner hereinbefore described.
Also, it may be noted, that said breechcloth or diaper 24 or 24 may be used as a longitudinal napkin, of which the upper layer 26 or 26' together with said container 2 supported in position by means of said adhesive pad 22, may be used in post surgical cases of ileostomy, for collecting the waste matter from the body.
Moreover, said breechcloth for its use and application may be deodorized, disinfected and sterilized, for rendering same free of bacteria and germs, thereby providing a sanitary and hygienic appliance, preventing the 4 possibility of irritation and afflorescing of the skin, eruption or other contamination, so that said appliance may be used advantageously for the purposes intended and at prolonged periods of time, which otherwise such use and application may be difiicult, not practical or impossible.
While this invention is described with great particularity it will be clear that the same may be modified throughout a wide range.
Accordingly, it is not proposed that this invention be limited to the exact details of construction herein shown and described, and that a reservation of the right in practice is made herein for securing the necessary changes and modification therein, which may come within the scope of the appended claims.
We claim as our invention:
1. In a combination of breechcloth with a detachable and foldable container of the class described for collecting the body waste matter; said breechcloth having an upper and lower layer, an elongated aperture in said up per layer of said breechcloth; a detachable and foldable tubular container having an open end and mounted at said elongated aperture of said upper layer of said breechcloth, a closed bottom tube end in said container, an adhesive coated pad provided around said elongated aperture of said breechcloth and at the outer surface thereof for holding and sealing said upper open end of said foldable container in place when collecting the waste matter from the body and when holding said breechcloth fastened in place for supporting said container in position.
2. In a breechcloth and collapsible tubular container combination of the class described, comprising a folded breechcloth having upper and lower layers, a longitudinal aperture in said upper layer of said breechcloth, a collapsible tubular container means in between said upper and lower layers of said breechcloth having a closed bottom end and having an open top end thereof lying adjacently and in juxtaposed position to said longitudinal aperture of said breechcloth, a plurality of fold means in said collapsible tubular container for maintaining a compactly assembled structure when in folded position and when resting between said upper and lower layers of said breechcloth, adhesive means in said open end of said container for mounting same upon the edges of said longitudinal aperture of said breechcloth, a circular adhesive covered pad means lying between said last mentioned means and the outer surface of the upper layer of said breechcloth and surrounding said longitudinal aperture therein for securing and for holding said open top end of said container in sealed position upon and against the body surface when collecting the waste matter therein.
3. In the combination of a breechcloth with a collapsible and foldable container of the class described for holding said breechcloth in place when collecting waste matter from a body and into said container; said breechcloth having an upper and lower layer, a longitudinal aperture in said upper layer of said breechcloth; a fold able and extendable rectangular wall in said collapsible container provided with an open upper end and a closed bottom end, a circular pad at the outer surface of said upper layer of said breechcloth and surrounding said longitudinal aperture therein, means in said open upper end of said container and extending upwardly therefrom for passing through said longitudinal aperture and for securing same over and upon said circular pad, a layer of adhesive compound coated upon the outer surfaces of said last mentioned means and said circular pad means for securing and for holding said open end of said container in place and in sealed position when collecting the waste matter therein from said body and when said breechcloth is fastened and applied upon the body of the user.
4. In a breechcloth of the class described comprising, a pair of folded layer sections formed out of said breechcloth and lying one over the other, a longitudinal aper- Ma-minus,
ture in one of said folded layer sections, in combination with, a foldable tubular container having a closed end and the open end thereof secured in and around said 10ngitudinal aperture of said breechcloth, an adhesive coated pad secured over said open end of said foldable tubular container and extending around the edges of said longitudinal aperture in said folded layer section of said breechcloth for holding said open end of said foldable tubular container in position and lying upon the outer surface of said folded layer section and when said breechcloth together with said container is held secured into place when attached to the body of the user and when in use for collecting 'waste matter from said body therein.
