P 17, 1963 s. c. SHERWOOD 3,401,813

NURSING UNIT Filed Feb. 15, 1967 1"". 5E 2Q i 55 FIG. 2

FIG. 1 INVENTOR SIGRID C. SHERWOOD United States Patent O 3,401,813 NURSING UNIT Sigrid C. Sherwood, 21 Edgar Place, San Francisco, Calif. 94112 Filed Feb. 13, 1967, Ser. No. 615,853 1 Claim. (Cl. 215-11) ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A nursing unit having a first nipple held to a bottle by a first member threadably secured to the bottle. A second nipple, encompassing the first nipple, is held to the first member by a second member threadably secured to the first member.

This invention pertains to child nursing equipment, and more particularly to nipples comprising an improved nursing unit generally described and shown in US. Patent 3,070,249 by Sehrwald, for Nippleglove.

These and other objectives of the present invention will be understood from the following description taken with reference to the attached drawing in which:

FIGURE 1 is a diagrammatic cross sectional view of the improved nursing unit in accordance with this invention.

FIGURE 2 is a diagrammatic cross sectional view of an improved double-sided screwtop 70, in accordance with this invention.

FIGURE 2 shows a double-sided screwtop 70. Here specific indentations are provided in two areas: on the inner side 70a, for screw-grip with the bottle 20. On the outside 70b, for screw-grip with the second screwtop 80. This double-sided screwtop terminates with a winglike structure 700, to embrace the bottle firmly with its inner 3,401,813 Patented Sept. 17, 1968 surface and to provide on its outer surface gentle elevations for firm finger-grip.

Referring to materials used: the screwtop 70 is made of a suitable flexible material such as rubber, plastic, etc.

As seen in FIGURE 1, the nippleglove nursing unit does include the modified screwtop 70, the sleeve 10, the nipple 60, the second screwtop 80, and the bottle 20.

The use of the modified screwtop 70, invented for the double-layered nurser provides several important advantages: (1) To secure a space of specific dimensions C, between sleeve 10, and nipple 60. (2) Screwtotp 80 is screwed against screwtop 70, in a clockor counter-clock fashion. (3) To hold sleeve 10 firmly at a specific distance from nipple 60.

I claim:

1. In a nursing unit of the type comprising a generally cylindrically shaped bottle having an opening at one end thereof, a first flexible nipple and a second flexible nipple overlying said first nipple, the improvement comprising means for positively securing the edge of said second nipple with respect to the edge of said first nipple, said means for positively securing the edge of said second nipple with respect to the edge of said first nipple including a first top member threadably secured to said bottle with the edge of the first nipple clamped between said bottle and said first top member and a second top member threadably secured to said first top member at the edge of said second nipple clamped between said first and second top members.
