REMEDY FOR DYSPEPSIA.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 343,660, dated June 15, 1886.
Application filed March 4, ISL-6. Serial No. 194,031. (No specimens.)
pound, aloes, one ounce; cream tartar, one
ounce; ground ginger, one ounce; extract of licorice-root, one-halfounce; senna-leaves, one half ounce; flake manna, one-halfounce; Cayenne pepper, one-fourth ounce.
First boilfor one hour the seuna, aloes, manna, and licorice together in the three quarts of water into which has been put one-half the quantity of molasses or treacle above named, after which add the Epsom salts, cream-tartar, ginger, and Cayenne pepper, together with the balance of the molasses. Then set away to cool 25 and macerate for the space of twenty-four hours, when the compound may be strained or filtered for use.
Dose: For an adult person, one gill,or eight (8) table-spoonfuls, may be taken at bed time and onehalt' of a gill, or four (4) tablespoon fuls,before breakfast for three days in succession, after which a cessation or omission of three days, when, if the disease is not eradicated, the doses are resumed as above.
By the use of the above composition I have Succeeded in permanently benefiting many persons who have been afflicted with dyspepsia.
WVhat I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is
The hereindescribed composition of matter used for dyspepsia, consisting of senna, manna, Epsom salts, aloes, molasses, cream tartar, ginger, licorice, and red pepper, in the proportions specified.
