The large bag is removed during use for protecting the handbag while the smaller purse is appended by means of the connecting tab for storage of small items. Both bag and purse have drawstrings to enable individual closure.

CARRYALL ASSEMBLY The present invention relates to handbags or purses and more particularly to a novel attractive weather-proof carrying bag to protect women's handbags, books or packages from environmental conditions.
Because women carry their handbags or purses in any environmental condition, the bags are subject and susceptible to' soiling and to damage from rain or snow. Many handbags are generally of nonwashable material and must be discarded after becoming soiled. In addition to protecting the handbags themselves, there has been a need for increased protection for the items in the handbags which, because of the construction of such handbags, become ruined or soiled from water seeping into the handbags in a heavy rain. The present invention was made to solve these and other disadvantages of conventional handbags.
Generally, it is an object of the present invention to provide a new and improved type of handbag cover.
Another object of the invention is to provide a carrying bag to accommodate handbags in a variety of sizes.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a weather-proof handbag cover that can be conveniently stored in a woman's handbag for immediate availability when needed for protection.
A further object of the present invention is to provide, in addition to the foregoing, an accessible purse for coins, keys or other small necessities while at the same time protecting the handbag.
In accordance with theabove and other objects, a handbag cover is provided which is made up of two interconnecting bags, one a water-proof carrying bag and the other an appendant purse. The water-proof carrying bag is made up of a length of transopaque vinyl or other water-proof material which has been heat sealed at the edges for economy and strength. Interconnected by a connecting tab is an appendant purse which may be similar in construction to the large carrying bag. Both carrying bag and appendant purse contain drawstrings at their top edge. 1 The connecting tab is heat sealed with the outer surface of the drawstring hem of the water-proof carrying bag. The bottom edge of the tab is heat sealed with the inner surface of the drawstring hem of the appendant purse. The proportions of bag and appendant purse are planned to permit the carrying bag, in its stored configuration to be folded up and inserted into the appendant purse which is then closed with its drawstring and compactly stored in a woman's handbag until needed. In its protective configuration the carrying bag is external of the purse but is appended thereto by the connecting tab. Thus, we can see that while the carrying bag is protecting the handbag, the purse can be used for miscellaneous coins,'etc.
This invention will be more fully understood from the following specifications and drawings wherein:

Referring now in detail to the drawings, numeral indicates generally the small purse of the present invention and numeral 12 indicates the large carrying bag. The large carrying bag 12 and the small purse 10 are conveniently made of any deformable water-proof sheet material. The rectangular shape of the bag is formed by heat'sealing three edges indicated by 14 in FIG. 3 with the fourth edge being a heatsealed drawstring hem. Contained within that drawstring hem is drawstring 18 which enables the opening and closing of the I carryin ba as seen in FIG. 3 in the open osition and FIG. 5 in the c ose position. Other bag configura ons, such as where point which preferably coincides with the drawstring hem 16 is a connecting tab 20. The connecting tab 20 is connected at its other end to small purse l0, and thus forms a permanent interconnection between those two units. The small purse 10 is generally similar in construction to large carrying bag-I2 in that it is made up of a defonnable water-proof material formed into a rectangular configuration and has a drawstring hem 24 with a drawstring 26 located therein. The connecting tab 20 is preferably affixed to the inner surface of the small purse 10 at a point coincident with the drawstring hem 24.
The assembly, according to the invention, can be used in two configurations. The storage configuration is shown in FIGS. I and 2. In that configuration the large carrying bag 12 is folded up and placed inside the small purse 10; by pulling the drawstrings 26 a small and secure unit can be obtained for storage in a lady's handbag.
In FIGS. 3, 4 and 5 the protection configuration of the assembly is shown. Whenever it is desired to protect a handbag, the small assembly can be removed from a womans handbag and, with little effort, the second configuration of the protection mode can be obtained. The large carrying bag 12 is removed from the small purse [0, as indicated by A in FIG. 2. At this point, the connecting tab 20 is external to the small purse 10 and the large carrying bag 12. It can readily be seen that a woman can place her handbag into the large carrying bag 12 and, by pulling its individual drawstring 18, close said carrying bag and maintain protection for the handbag in inclement weather. At the same time, small purse 10, connected by tab 20 to the large carrying bag 12, is now externally located then folded and placed inside of small purse 10, as shown in FIG. 2. By pulling on drawstring 26 the small purse 10 is then in a closed storage position.
Thus, we can see that it is a relatively simple matter to convert to either of the two storage configurations.
A latitude of modification, change and substitution is intended in the foregoing disclosure and in some instances some features of the invention will be employed with a corresponding use of other features. Accordingly, it is appropriate that the appended claims be construed broadly and in a manner consistent with the spirit and scope of the invention herein.
1. A carryall assembly for protection of a handbag and movable from a protection configuration affording protection for a handbag to a stored configuration wherein the assembly may be carried in a handbag, said assembly comprising a carrying bag formed of a foldable material, a purse substantially smaller in carrying capacity than the bag and adapted to contain the bag in folded condition, a tab connecting the bag to the purse, said bag being contained internally of the purse when said assembly is in its stored configuration, said bag being connected to said purse by means of said connecting tab and being maintained in an appendant condition externally of the purse when said assembly is in its protected configuration, said connecting tab being permanently attached to the outer surface of one side of the bag and permanently attached to the inner surface of the substantially smaller purse, said bag having the side opposite said one side free of attachment to said tab.
2. The carryall assembly of claim I comprising a hemlike configuration on the opening surface of the bag and purse adapted to include drawstring means enabling the opening and closing of the bag and purse separately.
