Lamb ABSTRACT: A remote terminal station connected by communication channels to a central processor for the communication of alpha and numeric information. The terminal station is capable of being operated in any one of three independent modes. The first mode is on line with the central processor with an operator entering data into the system at the terminal station. By proper selection of operational keys, the code transmitted by the terminal station is either ASCII or Hamming. The second mode is on line unattended wherein the terminal station echoes" back to the central processor all information received by it. The third mode is an off-line mode of operation wherein an operator controls the input and output of the station. A recirculating register operating on a time sharing basis is used for synchronizing the operating speed of the terminal station with the speed of transmission over the communication lines.
