PATENTED JUL 8197i FITTOQNEw/ MULTIPLE UNIT STAMP PAD AND SUPPORT BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION l. Field of the Invention The present invention relates generally to the office stamp and stamp pad art, and more particularly to a novel stamp holder and pad of the increment type incorporating magnetic material for supporting an office stamp, and the like, above an inked pad.
2. Description of the Prior Art Heretofore, many stamp pad constructions have been devised. Numerous patents have been granted on various features of these structures and varied units are available in office supply stores and elsewhere worldwide. However, there has been a deficiency in the increment-type stamp pad and in the area of maximum efficiency in time in the use of stamp pads. The applicants structure fills this long existing gap in the stamp pad art. SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION In brief, the present novel stamp holder and pad increment comprises a generally rectangular base ofa dish form in which an inking pad is secured. One longitudinal side of the support is formed as an inverted V which supports a cover of magnetic material which receives office stamps, and the like, to which magnetic strips, and the like, are secured, the stamps being held above the ink pad in position for downward movement into contact therewith on being used. Cooperating means are provided for releasably integrating increments to provide multi-increment stamp pads.
Objects of the present invention are to provide a novel stamp pad and stamp holder of the increment type which is adapted to support office stamps, and the like, in position for immediate use and immediate recognition, which can be employed in multiples as desired, which incorporates means for effecting speedy separation and joining of increments, which is economical in initial cost and maintenance, and which otherwise fulfills the objects and advantages sought therefor.
Brief Description of the Drawings FIG. DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT Referring to the drawing more particularly by reference numerals, I0 indicates generally a novel stamp holder and pad increment constructed in accordance with the teachings of the present invention. The stamp holder and pad increment 10 in cludes an elongated base l2 of rectangular pan form which may be made integral of suitable plastic material, as shown, or be made of any other desired material. The base 12 includes a bottom 14, an inverted V-shaped front wall 16, end walls 18 and 20, and a rear wall 22 of inverted V shape of substantially greater height than the walls 16, 18 and 20, and of a spread at the base to snugly fit over a front wall I6 ofa connected increment l0, as is clearly shown in FIG. 3. The rear wall 22 has openings 23 in its rear surface of a configuration and in position to fit over the end walls 18 and! 20 of an adjacent increment l0 (FIG. 5). An inking pad 24 is disposed on the bottom 14 and secured thereto by suitable adhesive 26. An office stamp support 28 of inverted V shape and of magnetic material is secured to the rear wall 22 by adhesive 30 and tension in the legs of the support 28. A stamp 32 having a strip 34 of magnetic material on one side is illustrated engaged with the support 28. lt will be noted that a user can push the stamp 32 downwardly into engagement with the inking pad 24 upon selecting the same for stamping use, thus employing the stamp 32 with utmost efficiency oftime.
The front wall 16 is closed at each end by a wall portion 36 forming in effect a continuation of the end walls 18 and 20. An aperture 38 is provided in each wall portion 36, which may be of any preferred configuration. The rear wall 22 is closed at each end by a wall portion 40. A boss 42 is formed on the inner side of each wall portion 40 ofai form and in position for snapping into the corresponding aperture 38 of a connected increment l0. Thus, it is clear that stamp holder and pad increment I0 may he snapped together and disengaged quickly and easily through the instant interlocking means.
It is also manifest that the present stamp holder and pad increment l0, as a single unit or in as many multiples as desired, provides office stamp storage in position for ready and immediate use and recognition of the desired stamp. Where the increment 10 is of sufficient width, both sides of the support 28 may be employed to hold stamps, as is indicated in FIG. l. Obviously, such single or double use will depend upon the particular employment of the increment or increments 10.
It is clear that there has been provided a stamp holder and pad increment which fulfills the objects and advantages sought therefor.
It is to be understood that the foregoing description and the accompanying drawing have been given by way of illustration and example. It is also to be understood that changes in form of the elements, rearrangement of parts, and substitution of equivalent elements, which will be obvious to those skilled in the art, are contemplated as within the scope of the present invention which is limited only by the claims which follow.
What l claim is:
l. A stamp holder and inking pad unit comprising, in combination, a base, stationary front andv rear walls, and an inking pad on said base, one of said front and rear walls being of greater height than said other, said wall of greater height including a magnetic material stamp holder adapted to support office stamps, and the like, in position above the inking pad, said walls being of inverted V crossI section, said wall of greater height being of a width to fit over the corresponding other wall of an adjacent second pad unit, said magnetic material stamp holder including downwardly divergent legs of inverted V cross section mounted on said higher wall, one leg supporting office stamps, and the like, in position above said inking pad and the other leg supporting office stamps, and the like, above a pad of a second unit adjacent said wall of greater height.
2. A stamp holder and inking pad unit comprising, in combination, a base, stationary front and rear walls, and an inking pad on said base, one of said front and rear walls being of greater height than said other, said wall of greater height including a magnetic material stamp holder adapted to support at least one office stamp, and the like, in position above the inking pad, said walls being of inverted V cross section, said wall of greater height being of a width to fit over the corresponding other wall of an adjacent second pad unit, said magnetic material stamp holder being of inverted V cross section and mounted on said higher wall, said front rear walls being closed at the ends, an opening in at least one closed end of the closed end ofthe other higher front or rear wall, the boss of one unit being adapted to fit into the opening of a wall of an adjacent unit for removably connecting the two units together for use as a multi-unit device.
3. The combination of claim 2 and including end walls of inverted V cross section, and openings in the outer leg of the higher wall of a form to tit over the end walls of alike unit connected thereto.
4. The combination of at least two separable interlocked stamp holder and inking pad units, each unit comprising a base, an inkng pad on the base, a'front wall, end walls, a rear wall, said walls being of inverted V cross section, said rear wall being higher than the other walls and having a magnetic portion of inverted V cross section, said front and rear walls being closed at the ends, an opening in each closed end of the front wall, an interior boss on the closed end of each rear wall,
openings in the outer side of the rear wall of a configuration to straddle the end walls of a connected unit, the bosses ofthe rear wall of one unit being removably engaged in the openings of the front wall of an adjacent unit, the rear wall of the said one unit being disposed over the front wall of the said adjacent unit, the openings of the outer face of the rear wall of said one unit straddling the end walls of the said adjacent unit, said magnetic portion of thc rear wall of said one unit adapted to support office stamps, and the like, on both sides above the inking pads of both units for pushing directly downward onto the pads upon selection.
