SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No.365,612, dated June 28, 1887.
- Application filed April], 1887. .Serial No. 233,278. (No model.)
To aZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, J. ELLWOOD LEE, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Oonshohocken, Montgomerycounty, Pennsylvania, have invented certain Improvements in Surgical Splints, of which the following is a specification. I
p The object of my invention is to construct surgical splints for fractures of the fingers or toes, which splints will give a more firm support for the fractured members thando splints of the usual construction.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a view showing the application of my improved splint to a finger; and Fig. 2 is a perspective View of the splint.
The splints to which my invention is especially applicable are those which are constructed of thin metal madeina trough shape and flexible transversely, so as to be readily adapted to the toes or fingers without interfering with adjoining toes or fingers, as illustrated in the drawings. I prefer to make these splints slightly tapering, so as to correspond more or than where the splint terminates at the base of the finger or toe, as is usual.
I claim as my invention A finger or toe splint of a trough shape to receive the member and having an extension, a, at the butt, as and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
