A shovel plate is mounted on an axis wider than the outside edges of the wheels, and adjustable in its heightwise position. Carrier arms thus lift the reaming tool in its rearwardly pivoted position between the driver housing and the loading container so that small amounts of bulk goods can be loaded, unloaded, and transported.
1 Claim, 2 Drawing Figures PATEN'TEUJUH 41974 sum 2 or 2 1. LOADING, UNLOADING AND TRANSPORTING DEVICE The present invention relates to a loading, unloading, and transporting device consisting substantially of a carrier frame mounted on rollers, a driver housing mounted on drive wheels on the axle of the carrier frame, a loading container pivotably mounted on an axle of the carrier frame, tilting cylinders between carrier frame and loading container, and pivotable carrier arms for carrying a controllable reaming tool on their upper ends, for reaming bulk goods.
With such devices, small amounts of bulk goods, such as pebbles, stones, sand or snow can be removed from the ground when required. When the device is used for reaming snow from sport arenas, airfields or other areas, the device should not solidify the snow to be removed when driving over its surface. Furthermore, during the mechanical unloading of the loading container, the reaming tools should not be in the way of the load ing container when the loading container is tilted. ln order to fulfill the above mentioned requirement, conventional methods use shovel dredges. However, in road, and building construction, shovel dredges are rather expensive when used as transport devices.
Self-emptying devices are useful and suitable for transporting pebbles and stones, but are disadvantageous in that theyhave to be loaded manually. Naturally, such a procedure is time consuming and expensive. Moreover, these conventional snow reamers usu-- ally push the snow into big heaps, which then must be loaded onto trucks to be hauled off. The reaming of bulk garbage from the street is stilldone manually.
The present invention reduces the plurality'of vehicles needed for loading, unloading, and transporting by providing a shovel plate which is pivotably mounted at the pivot axle of the loading container. The shovel plate is wider than the outside edges of the wheels, and adjastable in its heightwise position. Carrier arms are provided which lift the reaming tool between the driver housing and the loading container. In order to successfully use the device on an uneven ground level, the shovel plate is divided into at least one or a plurality of subdivisions and are individually adjustable with respect to the surface ground, in accordance with one embodiment of the invention.
In order to use the device to transport different types of bulk goods, the reaming tool is detachably mounted between the carrier arms. The advantages obtained with the subject invention are that only one vehicle is in use, instead of a plurality of vehicles, for loading, unloading, and transporting bulk goods, and only one transport device mounted on bearings is used with reaming tools. The device can be adjusted as required at the construction site by adjusting the reaming tool, and by using the proper reaming tool.
It is therefore an object according to the present invention to provide a loading, unloading, and transporting device having a wheel mounted carrier frame with the driver housing mounted on the wheels capable of removing small amounts of bulk goods from the ground level. I
It is another object according to the present invention to provide a loading, unloading, and transporting device which is simple in design, inexpensive to manufacture and reliable in operation.
Other objects and features of the present invention will become apparent from the following detailed description considered in connection with the accompanying drawings which disclose the embodiments of the invention. It is to be understood, however, that the drawings are designed for the purpose of illustration only and not as a definition of the limits of the invention.
In the drawings, wherein similar reference characters denote similar elements throughout the two views:
FIG. 1 is a side view of the loading, unloading, and transporting device according to the invention;
FIG. 2 is a plan view of the invention of FIG. 1.
In FIG. 1, the rods and return lever have been deleted for simplicity. Furthermore, the superstructure like carrier arms and loading tools have been removed from FIG. 2. Two different positions of the superstructure are shown in FIG. 1, namely, the loading position in dash lines, and the unloading position in short dash lines.
As can be seen from FIGS. 1 and 2, carrier frame 8 is mounted on wheels 10 and 11. The carrier frame is controlled from driver housing 9. The driver housing is mounted on the drive wheels. All control elements for the device are mounted in the driver housing. The device consists essentially of a rectangular loading container 1 having an open front end and sidewalls 2. The loading container is pivotably mounted in carrier frame 8 about axis 4. Furthermore, a shovel plate 3 is mounted on axis ,4 in front of the loading container. Shovel plate 3 is adjustable with respect to the surface. According to FIG. 2 shovel plate 3 is divided into three separate longitudinal sections which can be individually adjusted with respect to the surface by means of rods 5, return lever 6, and air pressure or hydraulic cyl inders 7, and an actuating lever (not shown) in the driver housing. Rods 5 run beneath loading container 1. In accordance with the invention, the shovel face is wider than the outer edges of wheels 10 and 11 and is angled so that the bulk goods do not fall in front of the wheels, but are moved towards the center of the loading container by the subsequent mass of bulk goods.
Loading container 1, which is pivotable around axis 4, can be actuated by engagement at point 13 by piston and cylinder 14, and engagement at point 12 at the carrier frame. In other words to empty the loading container, the container is lifted or tilted from a horizontal position into a vertical position. Carrier arms 15, which are mounted on carrier frame 8 at pivot 16 are reciprocally moved by means of cylinders 28at pivot 30, and by piston rods on the carrier arms at pivot 29.
According to FIG. 1, shaft 17 of the reaming tool is mounted at 17a of frame construction 18. The frame construction comprises shaft 20 at pivot 19, chain wheels 21 and 31 which are fixedly mounted on shafts l7 and 20, and chains 22 together with their associated drives 23. To tension chains 22, shaft 20 may be adjusted by means of a tensioning device. An oil motor 24 with its associated drive for the chains is mounted on shaft 21 at one of the carrier arms 15. Cylinders 25 are actuated for lifting and lowering the frame structure 18. Cylinders 25 are rotatably mounted together with their piston rods at pivot 26 on carrier arms 15 and at pivot 27 on the frame structure. When carrier arms 15 are pivoted backwardly by means of hydraulic cylinder 28 to lift frame structure 18, the bulk goods which are moved by shovel plate 3 by the drive of chains 22 and face.
After the loading operation is completed, carrier arms are pivoted backwardly until they engage the abutment of carrier frame 8, and frame structure 18 is lifted into a vertical position between driver housing 9 and loading container 1. Loading container 1 is thus released to empty the bulk goods by pivoting around axis 4 by means of hydraulic cylinder 14.
In other embodiments of the invention, different types of reaming tools may be mounted at 17a on carrier arms 15 instead of the frame structure 18, for reaming different types of bulk goods. For example, a gripper plate (not shown) may be mounted for reaming bulky garbage so that the width of the plate is sufficient to fit into the loading container. With the assistance of the gripper plate, the collected bulk garbage can be pushed into loading container 1 via shovel plate 3. The height of loading container 1 from the surface above wheels 11 can be adjusted by means of hydraulic cylinders.
Furthermore, in place of frame structure 18, together with the transport chain between the carrier arms 15, a lifting device having a rotary rim pivoting by about 240 can be substituted when the device is used for transporting piece goods.
The pneumatic or hydraulic control lines for controlling cylinders 25, 28 and 14, have been omitted for simplicity. The lines are connected to conventional controls in driver housing 9. Likewise, the controls for chain drive motor 24 are not shown, but are connected to conventional controls in the driver housing.
While only a few embodiments of the present invention have been shown and described, it will be obvious that many changes and modifications may be made thereunto without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention.
