United States Patent Walker Apr. 29, 1975 BEDDING ARRANGEMENT Primary Examiner-Paul R. Gilliam Assistant Examiner-Andrew M. Calvert [76] Inventor: Donald A. Walker, 564 l-lallsor Dr., Attorney. Agem, or Firm Danie] Jay Tick Victoria, British Columbia. Canada 221 Filed: Jan. 18, 1974 I571 ABSTRACT Appl. N0.: 434,592

A bedding arrangement comprises a mattess. An under outer cover is removably affixed to the mattress. An over outer cover is aftixed to the under outer cover along the foot edges thereof. The under and over outer covers are removably affixed to each other along their side edges for a distance of approximately four-fifths their length from their foot edges. An under sheet is removably affixed to the under outer cover. An over sheet is affixed to the under sheet along the foot edges thereof. The under and over sheets are affixed to each other along their side edges for a distance approximately two-thirds their lengths from their foot edges.

1 Claim, 5 Drawing Figures BEDDING ARRANGEMENT DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to a bedding arrangement.

Objects of the invention are to provide a bedding arrangement of simple components, which is easily stored, assembled, disassembled, utilized, which avoids the various disadvantages of sleeping bags and normal double sheet bedding arrangements, especially with regard to bedding arrangements utilized for camping outdoors and in vehicles, and provides great comfort to a user.

In order that the invention may be readily carried into effect, it will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawing, wherein:

FIG. I is a schematic diagram of an embodiment of the bedding arrangement of the invention, as assembled;

FIG. 2 is a schematic diagram of the sheets of the bedding arrangement of the invention;

FIG. 3 is a schematic diagram of the covers of the bedding arrangement of the invention;

FIG. 4 is a schematic diagram of the under outer cover and mattress of the bedding arrangement of the invention; and

FIG. 5 is a side view of the end area of the bedding arrangement of the invention.

In the FIGS., the same components are identified by the same reference numerals.

The bedding arrangement of the invention comprises a mattress 1 (FIGS. 1, 4 and 5).

An under outer cover 2 (FIGS. 3, 4 and 5) is removably affixed to the mattress by, for example, elastic bands 3, 4, 5 and 6.

An over outer cover 7 (FIGS. 1, 3 and 5) is affixed to the under outer cover 2 along the foot edges 8 (FIG. 5) thereof. The under and over outer covers are removably affixed to each other along their side edges for a distance approximately four-fifths their length from their foot edges 8. This is accomplished by zippers, snap fasteners, or the like. The over outer cover 7 preferably comprises comforter type material. The under outer cover 2 preferably comprises a light, durable material similar to a mattress cover, for example.

An under sheet 9 (FIGS. 1, 2 and 5) is removably afedges for a distance of approximately two-thirds their length from their foot edges and are removably affixed at points 20, 21 and 22, 23 in FIG. 2. This is accomplished by any suitable means such as, for example, zippers, snap fasteners, or the like. This is necessary to permit the upper sheet to fold down to allow entry and to be closed again to retain the heat.

The over outer cover 7, the under sheet 9 and the over sheet 17 have widths greater than that of the mattress I, so that when a person slips in between the sheets, there is sufficient cover and sheet material to accommodate him.

While the invention has been described by means of a specific example and in a specific embodiment, I do not wish to be limited thereto, for obvious modifications will occur to those skilled in the art without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention.

I claim:

1. A bedding arrangement, comprising a mattress;

an under outer cover removably affixed to the mattress;

an over outer cover affixed to the under outer cover along the foot edges thereof, under and over outer covering being removably affixed to each other along their side edges for a distance approximately four-fifths their length from their foot edges;

an under sheet removably affixed to the under outer cover; and

an over sheet affixed to the under sheetalong the foot edges thereof, the under and over sheets being affixed to each other along their side edges for a distance approximately two-thirds their length from their foot edges, the over outer cover, the under sheet and the over sheet having widths greater than that of the mattress to accommodate a person sleeping in the bedding.
