Description

(N Mod 1.) i
0 6 J. VON HUPPMANN-VALBELLA'.
NURSING BOTTLE HOLDER.
No; 442,585. Patented Dec. 9, 1890.
WITNESSES nv vE/v 70/? UNITED STATES PA-TENT OFFICE.
JEANNE VON IIUPPMANN-VALBELLA, OF NEIV YORK, N. Y.
NURSING-BOTTLE HOLDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 442,585, dated December 9, 1890. Application filed April 25, 1890. Serial No. 349,542. (No model.)
To all whom, it may concern:
Be it known that I, JEANNE VON HUPP- MANN-VALBELLA, of the city, countv, and State of New York, a citizen of the United States, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Nursing-Bottle Holders, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to an improved device for supporting a nursing-bottle on the table or other support, so as to permit the infant to drink from the bottle while sitting in its chair, the nursing-bottle having sufficient play in its support or holder, so as to be moved by the child into any desired position; and the invention consists of a nursingbottle holder which comprises a standard that is clamped to a table or other support and provided with a forked upper end, to which the bottle-holding frame proper is applied by a universal joint, said holder being formed of a longitudinal bar, a front collar for supporting the neck of the bottle, and a hinged and spring-actuated retaining-plate for the bottom of the bottle, as will be fully described hereinafter, and finally be pointed out in the claims.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 represents a side elevation of my improved n ursing-bottle holder, shown partly in section. Fig. 2 is a rear elevation of the .same; and Fig. 3 is a vertical transverse section of the holder on the line 1 1, Fig. 1.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
Referring to the drawings, A represents an upright standard of suitable metal, which is provided with a U-shaped yoke a at the lower part, that is attached by a clamping-screw b to a table or other suitable support. The upper end (I of the standard A is forked and connected by a universal joint 0 with the holding-frame D for the nursing-bottle. The frame D is preferably formed of a longitudinal bar e, which is provided with a ring-shaped and tapering neck-band e at its front end, which neck-band serves to support the neck of the nursing-bottle E, while to the rear end of the longitudinal rib e is hinged a flanged and spring-actuated retaining-frame 6 that engages the bottom of the bottle E and serves being formed of a ball of metalf, that is attached to the longitudinal bar 6 of the holder D, said ball being supported in concave bearings f at the upper ends of the forked end of the standard A, as shown clearly in Fig. 2.
The nursing-bottle is firmly supported by the holding-frame D, which latter may be turned with the bottle in any suitable direction and inclination on the supporting-standard A by means on the universal joint 0. For placing the bottle in position in the holder the retaining bottom frame 6 is moved against the tension of its spring in backward direction, as shown in dotted lines in Fig. 1, so that the neck of the bottle may be inserted into the neck-band 6', after which the retaining-frame is released, so that it engages the bottom of the nursing-bottle and presses the same forward in the neck-band, holding the bottle thereby firmly in position in the holder. The removal of the bottle is accomplished by pressing the retaining-frame back and then removing the neck of the bottle from the neck-band of the holder.
By the universal joint between holder and standard the bottle can be placed in any position at the will of the infant, which is thereby enabled to feed itself while sitting at the table, which is a great convenience, as the child can sit at the table during meals and be fed at the same time.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent 1. A bottle-holding frame composed of a central bar, a neck-band at one end thereof, and a flanged and spring-actuated retainingclamp hinged to the opposite end of said bar, substantially as described.
2. In a bottle-holding frame, the combination of a vertical supporting-standard provided with a clamp at its lower end, aforked arm attached to the upper end of said standard, the top of said forked arm being provided with a universal joint, and a horizontal center bar attached to said universal joint, In testimony that I claim the foregoing as provided at its forward end with an encircling my invention I have signed my name in presband for the neck of the bottle and With a ence of two subscribing Witnesses.
spring-actuated retaining-clamp hinged to the JEANNE VON HUPPMANN-VALBELLA. 5 rear end of said bar for clamping the bottle Witnesses:
in connection with the encircling band, sub- PAUL GOEPEL,
stantially as described. W. REIMHERR.
