0. F. GRANT.
PORTABLE SHOWER BATH. I No. 548,190. Patented Oct. 22, 1895.
INITED STATES PATENT OFFrcE.
OSCAR F. GRANT, OF PITTSBURG, PENNSYLVANIA.
PORTABLE SHOWER-BATH.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters latent NO. 548,190, dated October 22, 1895.
Application filed December 15,1894- Serial No. 531,948. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, OSCAR F. GRANT, a citizen of the United States, residing at Pittsburg, in the county of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Portable Shower- Baths; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention has relation to portable shower-baths, and has for its object the provision of a shower-bath that may be hung upon the wall above the bath-tub or other receptacle, when desired, and removed and stored away at pleasure without defacement of the wall and without the use of tools or appliances for making permanent joints or couplings.
My invention consists in the combination of a wall-bracket, a vertical supply-pipe attached to said bracket and formed with a lateral extension, a distributing nozzle or rose connected with said lateral extension, and a curtain-supporting ring secured to said lateral extension, the whole constituting a shower appliance which maybe hung upon the wall and connected to a supply-pipe by a flexible tube.
My invention further consists in the novel construction, combination, and arrangement of parts hereinafter set forth.
Referring to the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of my improvement in position over a bath-tub; Fig. 2, a front view of the bracket and supply-pipe with the lateral extension in section and the curtain-ring removed; Fig. 3, a perspective View of the curtain-ring, and Fig. 4. a side elevation of the portable shower-bath without the curtain.
A designates the vertical supply-pipe, and B the lateral extension of the same, to which a rose or other suitable distributing-nozzle O is connected, as shown. The outer end of the extension B is bent down and formed with an eye, through which passes a curtain-supporting ring D, that is provided with clips d d on its ends, which embrace the extension B near its junction with the vertical pipe A, and are clamped together by a screw 01'. A curtain E is hung from the ring D by small rings 6 e, and when the shower is in use the curtain is run around upon these rings, so as to completely surround the person in the tub and protect the walls and floor from splashing water.
The wall-plate of the bracket is composed of the horizontal bar F, upon which are fixed or formed eyes f ffor hanging the bracket and the braces or wall-plates g g g, connecting the horizontal bar F, to the vertical supply-pipe A, which is connected with a suitable source of supply by a rubber tube H.
Having described my invention, I claim 1. In a portable shower bath, the combination with a supply pipe, of braces or wall plates secured to said pipe, a horizontal extension of the pipe, anozzle or rose head on said horizontal extension and a curtain ring attached thereto, substantially'as described.
2 In a portable shower bathTthecpmbination of the Vertical supply pipe A, hofimntal bar F, lateral extension B, and wall plate s'g g, g, with the nozzle or rose 0, on said extension, and the curtain ring D, attached to said extension, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I have affixed my sig nature in presence of two witnesses.
OSCAR F. GRANT. Witnesses:
JOHN W. MOORE, JOSEPH M. KELLY.
