ADJUSTABLE SWITGHBOARD. No. 597,228. Patented Jan. .11, 1898.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 597,228, dated January 1 l, 1898.

Application filed September 23, 1897. Serial No. 652,680. (No model.)

To all whom, it may concern..-

Be it known that we, HENRY H. WALKER and FRANKD. WALKER, citizens of the United States, residing in the city and county of Philadelphia, State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Ad justable Switchboards, which improvement is set forth in the following specification and accompanying drawings.

Our invention consists of an improved construction of adjustable switchboard which can be cheaply manufactured and is especially adapted for use in places where it is desired to economize space.

It further consists of novel details of construction, all as will be hereinafter fully set forth, and particularly pointed out in the claims.

Figure 1 represents a plan view of an adjustable switchboard embodying our invention. Fig. 2 represents a side elevation of the conducting hinge or joint employed.

Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in the figures.

Referring to the drawings, A and B designate plates, the same having the conducting hinge or connection C common thereto, said hinge consisting of the member D, which is provided with the substantially parallel blades or wings E, said wings terminating in the socket G, which is provided with an opening II therein, in which a conductor is adapted to be inserted and held in position by a binding-screw .I or other suitable fastening device. The other member of the connection 0 consists of the blade or wing F, which is located contiguous to the wing or wings E and is readily movable relative thereto, said wing F having the socket K attached thereto, which is provided with an opening L therein, in which the end of a conductor is adapted to be inserted and held in position in the manner described with reference to the socket H.

The sockets G and K are attached to the plates A and B in any suitable manner, and it will be evident that an electrical communication exists between the wings F and E under all conditions in whatever position the plates A and B may stand, said plates being readily adjustable with respect to each other, as is evident. I

Having thus described our invention; what we claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is+

1. In an adjustable switchboard, a plurality of plates, wings attached to the latter and adapted to contact with each other in whatever position said plates may assume and means for making electrical connections to said wings.

2. In an adjustable switchboard, a plurality of plates having sockets attached thereto, said sockets being provided with wings which are adapted to contact with each other in whatever position said plates may assume.

3. In an adjustable switchboard, a plurality of plates, movable relatively to each other, a socket attached to one of said plates and having a plurality of wings, and the other of said plates having a socket attached thereto, and provided with a wing adapted to engage said first-mentioned wings, so as to form an electrical connection in whatever position said plates are located with respect to each other.
