UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HERMAN WEISS, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
SUSPENDER-BUCKLE LOOP.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 627,370, dated June 20, 1899.
Application filed December 13, 1898. Serial No. 699,168. (No od l.)
To aZZ whom it may concern;
Be it known that I, HERMAN WEISS, of the city of New York, borough of Manhattan, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Suspender-Buckle Loop, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
My invention relates to an improved construction of suspender-buckle loops or devices for attaching the straps to the lower end of the suspender-web.
My invention comprises the novel features hereinafter described and claimed.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures.
Figure 1 is a front view of my device applied to a suspender. Fig. 2 is a side or edge view of the same. Fig. 3 is a front view of a modified construction of the device, and Fig. 4is a cross-section of the same on the line 4 4 of Fig. 3.
My device consists of two main parts, the pin member B or the loop, which is secured to the suspender-web A and which is made of such form that it may be easily removed, and the strap-loops D, which are engaged by the pin and which support the strap F. The pin is shown in two forms differing slightly as to the means of securing the open ends thereof. The ends of the wire which form the pin or loop B are each provided with a ball 0, and the stems are bent slightly to one side, so that the balls will interlock after the manner of an ordinary purse-fastener. The pin is also provided with a downward drop B, adapted to secure the strap-loop D, although this latter feature may be omitted and the lower portion of the pin be made straight. 4d
The strap-loop D consists of a single piece of wire bent into the form of a double U, with the two arms d and d formed thereby of different lengths and united at their upper ends by a bend which passes over the lower portion of the pin B. This construction is clearly shown in Figs. 1 and 2 of the drawings.
The lower portions of each arm are preferably provided with rollers E, which directly support the straps F. The straps, as herein shown, are made with their upper portions double, one portion passing through each of the members d and d. One of these rollers also serves to firmly bind together the ends of the wire forming the strap-loop.
The pin B (shown in Figs. 3 and 4) is made more after the form of a safety-pin, being provided with a hook C at one end, adapted to receive the other end of the wire. This form of construction for a Suspender-buckle loop is one which is cheap and yet is strong and serviceable.
Having thus fully described my invention,
I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent A Suspender-buckle loop, comprisinga loop adapted to be engaged by the Suspender-web and a double U-shaped strap-holding loop formed of a single bent wire, and with arms of different lengths connected at their upper ends by bends which embrace and pivot upon one portion of the first-named loop, and rollers carried by the said arms, substantially as described.
HERMAN WEISS.
