No. 690,!UI. Patented Dec. 3|, l90l. W. E. COOPER.
SHAVING 6UP.
(Application filed Apr. 24, 1901.)
(Ito Modal.)
UNiTho STATES PATENT OFFICE.
WARREN EARL COOPER, OF NEXV YORK, N. Y.
SHAVlNG-CUP.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 690,101, dated December 31, 1901. Applioationfiled April 24, 1901. Serial No. 57,336. (No model.)
To all whom it ritcty concern.-
Be it known that I, WARREN EARL COOPER, a citizen of the United States, residing at No. 20 East Forty-seventh street, in the city, county, and State of New York, haveinvented an Economic and Antiseptic Shaving-Cup, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in shaving-cups and soap-econoinizers; and the objects of my invention are, first, to utilize the soap as part of the cup; second, to afford facilities for feeding the soap cake into the cup uniformly and conveniently; third, to expose for use only a small portion of the cake of soap; fourth, to compress the portion of soap which is exposed; fifth, to make the interior of the cup present a practically unbroken surface, which can be easily and thoroughly cleansed, and, sixth, to have the bottom of the cup below the aperture through which the soap is forced. I attain these objects by the mechanism illustrated in the ac companying drawings.
Figure 1 is a vertical section of the entire cup. Fig. 2 is a top view of half the cup. Fig. 3 is a bottom View of one-half of the cup.
A and A are the sides of the cup, Abeing the top half or cup proper and A being the bottom half or base.
B is the bottom of the cup, and a a the open ing through which the soap is fed into A.
D is the feeding-tube and soap-reservoir, smooth on theinside and threaded on the outside. The soap cake is put into D atcc and is fed into A through the opening a a after being compressed by the taper, which starts at b b. This insures a tight joint at a aand l'oy making the surface of soap exposed more dense lessens the wear. The soap is fed into A by turning the nut O, which travels on the outside of D and communicates its motion to the soap cake by means of the plate E, which projects through the slot F and bears on 0.
Having described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. The combination of a cup A, and a feedtube D tapered at the end projecting into the cup, and thereby forming a water-space, the tube having a movable bottom which is moved up and down by a threaded ring, which winds on the outside of the feed-tube substantially as described.
2. The combination of a cup A and a feedtube D tapered at one end through which the soap passes, and is compressed as it enters the cup, the soap being moved up through the tube D by means of the movable bottom (or plate E), which is moved up and down by a threaded ring, winding on the outside of the feed-tube substantially as described.
WARREN EARL COOPER.
