IMPROVE!) AUTOMATIC TONGS.

Be it known that l, RFUS M. EASTMAN, of Bosthe jawsclosed; and Figure 1, a representation of the same, partially opened.v y
The instrument may be made of woorl, or other suitable material, and may be of any required size.
In fig. 1, the stationary part A forms, at one end, the lower jaw of the tongs c, the other end forming the handle e.

The parts AA and B arelalso connected in sncha manner, i, as to'allow B to be drawn backward and fnward horizontally by the thumb of thel same hand s that holds the instrument, thereby opening and elosing the jaws. 1
It may also be provided witlra spring, for either opening or closing the jaws,thereby necessitating but one motion of' the thumb when using.l
