This invention relates to improvements inv post brace anchors. v

The object of the invention is provide a device of this characterwhich may be readily 4engaged .with-the ground and operated to securely fasten itself in the earth thereby rigidly anchoring the post brace.

A further object is to provide a post brace anchor" having improved construction f parts and means whereby they may be readily assembled for use.

Referring more particularly to the drawings, 1 denotes the anchor which consists of an expanding framehaving a substantially circular base, l2. The sides of the base are out away to provide diametrically opposite lugs, 3, from which project upwar -inwardly diverging arms, 4, which are connectcd'together at their upper ends and in said upper ends is formed a vertically disposed assage which alines with asimilar passage in the center of the base plate. Operatively engaged with thehea 8, are anchoring wings, 10, each ofwhich consists of arms, 19., having on their A upper ends hooks, 13, which are adapted to be engaged with the bearing apertures and bearings, 9, in the opposite ends of the: cross head, 8. On the lower ends of the arms' 12 are formed laterally projecting segmental anchorn blades 14, which are adapted to be forcel into the earth in the manner hereinafter described. AIn the inner-side of the arms, 12 and inner edges of theblades, 14, are forme V-,shapedrooves, 15, which are adapted to be engage by the triangular outer sides of the expandin frame, whereby when the said expander is rawnrupwardly by the opera- -tion of the rod, 5 in thethreaded 'aperture of the cross head the lower portion of said arms and blades will be expanded. Whenlthe anchoring blades have been thns expanded, the anchor will be securely held in the earth.

It will be noted that by providing the' cross head, 8, with a threaded aperture to receive the operating rod that the necesslty A of providing operatingnuts or other devices is entirely obviated.

From the foregoing description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, the construction .and operation of the inven` tion will be readil)1 understood without re- I quiring a more extended explanation.
