UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
CARL MULLER, OF GHlOAGO, ILLINOIS, ASSIGNOR 'IO MARDER, LUSE & 00., OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR A FONT OF PRINTING-TYPE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 12,497, dated September 27, 1881. Application filed August 23, 1881. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CARL MULLER, of Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of 1111- nois, have originated and invented a new and useful Design for a Font of 1rinting-Type; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying illustration, forming a part of this specification.
My invention consists of a condensed ornamented Roman letter, having the ceriphs tapered gradually to a sharp point, and the center of the letter swelled out to a point on each side. A fine line surrounds the whole letter at an even distance, and the open portions of the letter are filled with an ornamented design, as shown. All ornaments and embellishments are irregularly numbered from 3 to 37 and marked A to H, inclusive, as shown in the accompanying copies of the font of type.
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The new design of a font of printing-type, consisting of a condensed Roman letter having the ceriphs tapered gradually to a sharp point, and the center of the letter swelled out to a point on each side, and having a fine line surrounding the whole letter, ornamented and embellished, substantially as described and shown.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own I afifix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
