PATENT OFFICE DESIGN FOR A SHOE Application August 23, 1940, Serial No. 94,590
Term of patent 14 years To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Frank R. Merritt, a citizen of the United States, residing at Haverhill, in the county of Essex and Commonwealth of Massachusetts, have invented a new, original, and ornamental Design for Shoes, of which the 01 lowing is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part thereof.
In the drawing Fig. 1 is a perspective view of one side of a shoe showing my new design;
Fig. 2 is a plan view of the shoe;
Fig. 3 is a side elevation of the shoe showing the side opposite to that shown in Fig. 1; and
Fig. 4 is a cross sectional view taken along the line IVIV of Fig. 2 and showing the appearance of the moccasin-type seam.
The dominant feature of my new design is the continuous moccasin-type seam which extends upwardly from the sole of the shoe at one side of the shank rearwardly of the center thereof, forwardly around the toe end of the shoe, and thence rearwardly and downwardly to a corresponding point on the sole at the opposite side of the shank of the shoe.
The ornamental design for a shoe, substantially as shown and described.
FRANK R. MERRII'I'.
