DESIGN FOR A PAIR or SPECTACLES William J. Joyce, Sturbridge, Mass., assignor to American Optical Company, Southbridge, Mass., a voluntary association of Massachusetts Application September 3, 1943, Serial No; 111,056
Term of patent 14 years To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, William J. Joyce, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Sturbridge, in the county of Worcester and State of Massachusetts, have invented a new, original, and ornamental Design for a Pair of Spectacles, of which the following is a specification, reference being made to the accompanying drawing forming a part thereof.
Fig. l is a perspective view of a pair of spectacles showing the dominant features of my design in full lines;
Fig. 2 is a top or plan view of the spectacles shown in Fig. 1;
Fig. 3 is a side view of the spectacles shown in 1' u My design for a pair of spectacles, as shown,
is characterized by the specific configuration of the lenses which have a continuous curved edge on their nasal sides, with the remainder of the lenses curving rearwardly to a rear edge of a shorter radius of curvature than the nasal edge, and with the lower edges sweeping upwardly at an angle greater than the downwardly sweeping upper edges of the lenses, thereby causing the curved temporal ends of the lenses, which are of a shorter radius of curvature than the nasal ends, to be higher with respect to the horizontal center lines of the lenses than said nasal ends.
The ornamental design for a pair of spectacles, substantially as shown and described.
WILLIAM J. JOYCE.
