Be it known that l, LEWIS ELLioTT, of New Haven, in the county of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented and pro- 5 dueed a Design for Indie-Rubber Soling; and Ido hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with accompanying drawings and the letters of reference marked there on, to be a full, clear, and exact description to of the same, and which said drawings eonsti tute part of this specification, and represent, L

This invention relates to a design for the roughening ot the surface of the sole ofindia rubber boots and shoes, whereby that surface is made highly ornamental; and iteonsists in:

The ornamentationconsists of two series of ribs crossing EflGlll other, forming diamonidshaped panels on the sole. The surface of these panels is cut in the form of lozengcz; shaped figures, as shown.

I claim The design: for the ornamentation of the soles of indiwrnbher boots and shoes, consisting in the two series of ribs crossing each 0 other, forming diamond-shaped panels on the sole, the snrfaceof the said panels presenting lozenge-shnpcdi figirres, as shown and de a scribed.
