"Latented Map;

UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.

AUGUST HILDT, OF NElV YORK, N. Y., ASSIGNOR TO L. DRYFOOS & 00., OF SAME PLACE.

DESIGN FOR QUILTING.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Design NO. 16,563, dated March 9, 1886.

Application filed December 23, 1885. Serial No. 186,584. Term of patent! years.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, AUGUST HILDT, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and original Design for Quilting, of which the following is a specification, reference beinghad to theaccompanyingdrawing, which represents a strip of fabric quilted in accordance with my invention.

The design consists of alternate rows or groups of diamond or lozenge shaped figures a and six-sided figures 1), whose longer sides are parallel, and which terminate in tapering or pointed ends. These two sets of figures meet and join one another at the points 1, the sides of the figures b, which form thetapering ends of those figures, being a prolongation of the adjoining sides of the figures a contiguous to them.

The diamonds a are interposed between adrangement being such that the diametricallyopposite points a of the diamonds shall join the similarly'located points b of the figures b of both rows. The diamonds in each row or group also join one another at the points 2.

What Iclaitn, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

The design for quilting fabric, consistingof alternate rows of diamond or lozenge shaped figures a and six-sided figuresb, with the points b of the corresponding figures, b, of two adjoining rows directly opposite to each other, and with the diamonds of each row joined at their points a to the points b of figures b in the two adjoining rows, as described and shown.

In testimony whercofI have hereunto signed my name this 221'! day of December, 1885.

AUGUST HILDT.
