SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 27,006, dated May 4, 1897.

ie it known that, I, CHARLES Unrttcnm. PERKINS, a citizen of the United States, residing at the city and county of San Francisco, in the State of California, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Flags, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact; specification.
The leading feature of my design consists of a field divided diagonally inLo L\vo contrasting portions, the lower portion displaying a fanciful figure and the upper portion displaying a small flag.
The drawing shows an elevation or side view of a flag embodying my design.
The entire surface of the flag is divided by a diagonal line A into two fields B C, which are given contrasting colors. right-hand field B is displayed a fanciful In the lower figure I), the outline of which is a split or open ring. In Lhe upper left-hand field (7 appears a small uncolored flag E, having the representation of a bear and a single star. The small flag E appears as flying from a pole F, rising from the field I and havingthe cords and tassels (i depending from its upper end.
